Great location -- and hotel!

Posted Jun 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
We had a very pleasant stay at the Banyan Resort. The hotel is located within walking distance of Duval St. -- but still far enough to avoid the nuisance of such crowded streets. Our room was great! And the hotel itself is an historic mansion built in 1898. I can't say we loved Key West (in fact, we didn't) -- but we would definitely recommend this hotel to whoever decides to stay in K.W.

Lovely Key West Ambiance & Style

Posted May 30, 2014
Pros: The setting, close to the Duval Street action, but quiet, and the amenities are top-notch.
Cons: See my previous comments.
Location: It's Key West! What else do you need to know?
This was our second stay at the Banyan in the past three years and, as before, we enjoyed having it as our base of operations in Key West. It's a time share which rents at least some of its units with typical hotel-style amenities. The setting is spectacular, with giant banyan trees and lush tropical shrubs surrounding the Bahamas-style buildings, multiple pools, a hot tub, and a tiki bar, open during the day. Our only beefs, both minor, were 1) the a/c control was "throttled" at night, so we couldn't get the room as cool as we would have liked; and 2) at the end of our stay the facility tacked onto the bill a $20 "energy surcharge," about which we had not been informed, in advance. Why not just build in that trivial charge ($5.00 per night!) to the basic bill (over $1,000 for four nights, plus parking) and be done with it? As it was, it just felt like airline-style nickeling-and-diming. On the whole, though, we love the Banyan.

This is an amazing place to stay. We ended up staying extra nights and had to move rooms to do so as it was short notice. We stayed in three different rooms and they were all great. Service and cleanliness was excellent. The Tiki Bar owned by Bridget was superb. We will definitely stay there again.

Loved this resort

I stayed in a one bedroom suite on the ground floor with a full kitchen including dishes. The grounds have lush tropical landscaping. The separate buildings add to the privacy. The room was nicely appointed. The one drawback was that the TV in the kitchen/lving room was small; however, they did receive lots of channels. I only put on a music station while I was there, so it didn't matter to me. There was a nice sized TV in the bedroom. The resort is one block off of Duval Street, so everything in the old town is within walking distance. There is even a theater around the corner. The other drawback was that when I went to bed, I could hear a band playing on Duval Street somewhere. It wasn't loud enough to keep me awake, however. Everyone I met here was very friendly. The front desk clerk recommended some restaurants and made reservations for me. Several guests that I spoke to were very nice, and the young lady who runs the tiki bar was sweet. I have stayed in several places in Key West and this just became my favorite place to stay!
