Hotel fine - location convenient - area not goodPosted Jul 15, 2014
Hotel perfectly ok. Not luxurious but bed large and comfortable and enough hanging space for one or two nights. Breakfast poor and v expensive for what you got. Trouble is the area is pretty rough and not conducive for wandering around to find a breakfast alternative.

Three days in ParisPosted Jun 29, 2014
Pros: The upgraded room I eventually got was nice. I am not sure how my originally book room looks like
Cons: Staff should be better prepared. No business center to print a boarding pass. No iron in the room
Location: Far from city, but near the train. The price reflects that well. The same hotel in the city would have been much more About 30 min by train from city
I had booked and paid for the room some 5 months before but when I got there I was informed they had no rooms available for me. They offered another hotel of lower quality, or for me to go by cab to another hotel for one night. I had to insist to talk to the manager on call and only after much frustration, I was given an upgraded, very nice room. This happened even though I had specifically asked earlier if they had absolutely no available rooms in the hotel and was told there were NONE. I understand hotels overbook sometimes, but I think they should have had a plan B and offer me the upgraded room immediately. The chance of me not showing up for a paid room was really very small and they should have been prepared for my arrival.

Clean and comfy room but not very welcoming staffPosted May 27, 2014 on Hotels.com
Reception staff not very welcoming!!! need customer service training but the room was very clean and comfy. Hotel location excellent, next to RER station direct to heart of Paris! I would stay in this hotel again.

Mercure, Val De FontenayPosted Mar 14, 2014 on Hotels.com
Perfectly located adjacent to the Metro/RER station, the location was ideal for me travelling on my own for the first time. The room was spotless, quiet and very comfortable. Although I didn't use it, there was room service and a restaurant/bar in the hotel. There was a supermarket and food outlets within a 5 minute walk. Good value for money - I have already made another booking!

This was a great hotel I originally was staying at a different hotel closer to Paris and it was awful so I booked a room at this hotel and I am so glad I made the move! The only downfall that I can think of is the location and how far it is for if you need to take a taxi to the center of Paris

Don't mind going there again.Posted Sep 22, 2012
Pros: Easy access, big room, eating place.
Cons: Only 1 English TV Channel and one day RER was delayed I arrived in Paris late.
Location: 50 metres from RER train station
I could not find a hotel in Paris. I took this one as it's next to RER A train station. and I am not disappointed at all. because it did not take me much more time to get there. Big room, not that noisy despite the fact it is next to highway and to train station.

Mercure Fontenay - would never stay againPosted Sep 18, 2011 on Hotels.com
The first room assigned was filthy. There were stains on the carpet throughout the room. The walls by the air vent were filthy from dirty ducts. The curtains were filthy and smelled. The pillows also smelled damp and unclean. Last but not least the paint was coming off the bathroom walls and there were water leaks on the floor. The hotel staff moved us to another room on the same floor (7th) which was not much better. Apparently, these are the rooms given to expedia/hotels.com reservations. Finally after complaining again, we were moved to the 6th floor which had new carpets and interior. The best part of the hotel was the restaurant. The food was delicious.

Nice Suburban NichePosted Jul 29, 2011 on Hotels.com
The hotel is located in a Parisian suburb, so you need to take the RER (commuter) line, but there are many trains, you're right outside Paris, and the train station is a stone's throw from the hotel. It's only 20 minutes to the great sights in central Paris. The hotel is modern and clean. I appreciated the ample desk space and the luxurious bathroom. Great shopping mall right behind the motel with a good choice of cheap restaurants and some great supermarkets/department stores. Although the hotel is modern, its maintenance seems iffy; there was chipped paint and ripped wallpaper in my room. The suburban town itself is a dreary Le Courbusier knockoff. All in all, though, this was a good bargain for the price.
