Pros: The room was very nice. The bed was very comfortable.
Cons: The reason I would note recommend was based on the surrounding area and the loiters. I was with my daughter and we did not feel safe walking around.
Location: This would be a weakness. We were approached on three separate occasions by people on the street, making us feel uncomfortable about the surroundings
Very nice facility, hotel staff was very friendly.

Overall this is a great hotel. Location is good, staff is friendly and the service is goog. The restaurant and pool bar serve great food and the food service staff are excellent. Valet parking is pricey but seems in line with other hotels.

Room was not ready at check-in.

Posted Mar 22, 2015
Pros: Easy access to the beach. Not much else.
Cons: Fire the big guy at the front desk and hire someone with a sense of honesty and truthfullness.
Location: Beach. Not many restaurants close. Those that were close were terrible.
Our flight arrived at 12:00 pm and we arrived at the hotel about 1:00 pm. We knew check-in was not until 3:00, but we checked to see if our room was available, which it was not. The agent behind the desk said we could store our bags, and I would be called on my cell phone when the room was ready, which would be no later than 3:00. We went to lunch then came back to the hotel at 2:30. We waited in the lobby. 3:00 pm came and went so when 3:30 came around, I went up to the front desk to ask the agent about our room. He said that he had just called us. He lied, since we never received the call, and we could see him the whole time. He never did pick up a phone. He told us to go to the room and he would have our stored luggage sent up. 5:00 pm came around and no luggage. I went back to the front desk agent and he acted like it was the bellmans fault, but according to the bellman he was never instructed to deliver it. He actually said that this agent has blamed him numerous times, when he was never told to deliver luggage, even numerous times that day. I retrieved the luggage myself and took it to the room myself. Why this hotel hires a front desk agent that lies to the guests is beyond me. 5:30 before we were completely checked- in is absurd and very poor service. Never again!

Chic hotel just seconds from the beach

Posted Mar 22, 2015
The hotel was clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful when asked questions. The location of the hotel is great. It's just across the street from the beach, but it didn't have its own beach area with chairs, etc. We had to find a 3rd party vendor to get chairs and umbrellas for a reasonable vacation price. Also, las olas blvd is an easy bike ride or quick drive away. There's also a mall and drugstore within a mile, which was handy for me. My only real disappointment was the size of the fitness facility. There are two treadmills, one eliptical, one bike, and a seated weight machine. So, makes it tough if there's a crowd or you are looking for floor space to do stretches, etc. All in all, I was happy with the stay and thought the sonesta met appropriate expectations.

Good hotel but lookout for partiers

Posted Mar 20, 2015
Pros: nice staff. Attentive houskeeping. Good pool. Very clean.
Cons: Gym is pretty weak. It needs a hot tub too.
Location: The neighborhood kind of looks like a college dive. Cool park across the street should not be missed.
This is a nice hotel - it is only missing a couple of critical elements which would push it up into the luxury category. The biggest issue I had was the noise. Silly me taking my family on vacation to Ft. Lauderdale during Spring Break, but some drunk guy knocking on my door at 2:30 a.m., followed by extremely loud arguments and fighting around 4:00 a.m. - not very impressive. Okay at least that was just the first night out of four total. But I didn't really care for the apology received by the hotel staff. Basically just said it was out of their control but they were sorry and they had evicted the offending parties. C'mon - you could at least comp my parking or something! Some angry woman down the hall was given a full refund and all i get is a "sorry"? Guess I should complain more loudly.

Nice hotel, close to beach

Posted Mar 19, 2015
Pros: It is just far enough away from the noisy area but still close enough to walk down to and enjoy
Right across the street from the ocean, walking distance to all of the restaurants and little shops. The pool was very tiny but the chairs were comfortable to lay out in and the pool bar was convenient. We will definitely stay here again.
