“Take a chance on this charming hotel!”

I will admit to some hesitancy when I booked this reservation through Expedia. We were looking for a place to stay the night before, and the night after, our cruise out of Fort Lauderdale. But I figured it's one block from the beach, the price was right, and it's only two nights, right? Well, I am glad I took the chance. If you are looking for something a little more intimate than the typical big name, high rise beach hotel, you will thoroughly enjoy the Avalon Waterfront Inns. We had a room right off the lovely, sunny pool area on the first floor with a very comfortable king size bed, TV, microwave and fridge, as well as a private bath. Our boys had a room with two queen size beds, and a huge, tiled shower "room" with more than enough room for two. As advertised, we were right across the street from the Ft. Lauderdale public beach. We were also an easy 15 min. walk from a nice shopping area with a number of casual eateries. A little beyond that was the Las Olas shopping district, with more upscale shopping and restaurant choices. All in all, I think this is a hidden gem along the Ft. Lauderdale beach, and I would definitely return for a stay in the future. Don't hesitate!

“friendly beach getaway”

hotel was very clean and hotel staff very friendly . hotelstaff went out of their way to accomadate with chairs extra towels and anything else we may have needed. pools were clean all guests seemed friendly and family oriented was just a great place for the price and would reccomend this hotel to others and would definitly stay at this location again. also right near the beach and many walking distance attractions

“Great beach fron hotel...especially for the price!”

The hotel is a great beach front hotel. If you want luxury conditions, it is not your place. But if you want a good, clean, overall nice place to stay, The Avalon is your place. I do reccommend upgrading to a bigger room (we had the kitchenette which was a LOT bigger than expected) and a rental is a good idea if you are staying more than a couple of days. Taxis do drive infront of the hotel often. It is close to the airport and Los Olas and Northern Miami is about a 45 minute drive. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall our experience was very pleasent and we would definately go back!

“Great location, comfortable ambience”

One thing that is clear from reading hotel reviews is that tastes are not alike. This hotel has a wonderful veranda looking out over the beach. The room was comfortable and clean, with lots of closet and dresser space to unpack and plenty of hot water. I was on the third floor of a back building. In the morning I could look out my window and see the sun rising over the Atlantic. There was a wicker couch on the open-air landing where I could sit and read. The hotel offers free wireless internet access in the lobby and on the veranda (and supposedly around the pool, though I didn't test it there). There is also a general access computer in the lobby, in case you want to look up a restaurant, get directons from MapQuest, or send an email or two. The staff is friendly (while I was working away late one evening the security staff offered to share their pizza!). The breakfast is simple, but the coffee is good, and hey, your sitting on the veranda looking at the ocean with the sun breaking through the clouds. From now on this is my home-away-from-home in Fort Lauderdale.

“Great hotel on the beach”

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff was great! They were very friendly, they let us check in early, and they helped us get a good deal on a tour that we were interested in. The continental breakfast was great, and I loved sipping my coffee and eating my breakfast on the lovely front porch. There was a computer available with internet service in the lobby which was great! The pool was lovely, we swam in it a couple of times and even at midnight! It was so nice! Believe me, for the price of this hotel, it is an excellent deal and you should enjoy! Oh, and it's close to a lot of great restaurants and shops and the busstop is right across the street if needed.

“Great for the price”

This hotel is very very very old but clean staff was very helpful, breakfast was always nice, they usually had coffee in the evening too. The patio overlooking the ocean was great, for what you pay we thought it was great.

“Lovely Vacation”

We stayed in the B building which wasn't an ocean view, but it had a lovely courtyard w/ picnic tables and grills available to the guests. The hotel is weathered and a little beat up on the outside, but is unique and has a lot of character. It was very clean. The room was large & the bed was so comfortable! We will definitely stay there again. It's a short distance from the gay beach, and may not be suitable for all types of families; but we certainly loved the location. Everything was within walking distance.

“Came in with a smile left with and even bigger one”

There are not enough words to compliment the staff, the stay, and just the personal care at the avalon waterfront inns. My girlfriend and I decided on a vacation to ft lauderdale fl. Being refered to the hotel by a friend I decided to book with expedia. I emailed contact us and was extremely surprised to get a fast response. Also it was a response from the general manager, ....:). All I know was she was one of the nicest most accomidating ladies I have ever met. After a few nice emails back and forth we finnaly arrived. I was greeted with a smile and a phonecall welcoming us to the hotel. We were unsure of the area but all of our questions were answered. Even something as little as needing quaters,the manager took it upon herself to get me change. Not knowing anyone down here was also kinda weird but the friendly staff were easy to befriend. My man the bartender was extremely helpful and friendly. He let us in on all the stores and local around the place within walkin distance. He took care of all his customers well and also found time to interact with the guests playin videogames and getting to know them. The room was great the staff was great and my vacation was the best I have ever had. Thank you avalon...and thank u to the general manager u are the best :)

“An Escape From A Hectic Life!!”

My children and I stayed at the Avalon Waterfront Inn this past weekend. We went to Ft. Lauderdale to find some peace and quiet. And the Avalon Waterfront Inn supplied that!!! It is right across from the beach and oh so peaceful. We had an efficiency room poolside with a full kitchen, walk in closet, and large room. The staff was amazing-so courteous and helpful!! The front pool was very tranquil and beautiful. I never saw more than 5 people in the pool at one time. The free continental breakfast was plentiful with a wide selection. The Avalon is a waterfront oasis. It is a great place to go if you are looking to get away from it all. Note to parents-it is very kid-friendly.
