Everything was great! The staff was friendly. The hotel was nice and quaint. Great location within walking distance to the beach and many restaurants! The pool area was nice and clean.

The hotel is a nice little hole in the wall. The rooms are kept well. Affordable fir the average person. The staff are friendly checking in periodically. The coffee in the moring is g[d , milk is fresh. Otherwise generalized pastry and cereal

Very nice pool, very warm. Comfortable bed. Near the beach and restaurants. Music by the pool was too loud and not to our liking.

Dear Robert, Thank you for your feedback. I'm happy to hear the accommodation was comfortable and the pool temp. was delicious at 88 degrees. I apologize for the decibel level and poolside music selection. It's not always predictable to achieve everyone's musical taste. I will personally address this with my staff and assure you on your next visit the poolside experience will be much improved. Have a happy holiday season.

I frankly liked the property. The rooms as another noted were aging. Classic style. I love that. Furnishings could be updated.but really i enjoyed the peace and quiet of a clothing optional gay resort. The staff were very nice. Kept the yard picked up after a few stormes that passed thru.soda machine stocked with water is cheaper than Cvs. I will be coming back

I had an amazing trip. The accommodations were prefect. Breakfast could have been a little more than what is in a plastic wrapper such a fresh bagels and fruit, but that won't stop me from booking them again for another stay. REAL clean, and I'm picky.

This place is an absolute disgrace. I booked in advance however I Arrived at 8:30 p.m. to find out that they stop checking in at 7. It was my last resort at that moment and I was basically left to sleep in my car while a $540 hotel reservation went to waste for absolutely no reason. Then after trying to reschedule my reservation, I find out that the hotel is banned me for absolutely no reason.

I have your reservation information in front of me and in reviewing the facts, I need to refresh your memory. Your reservation was received on Oct. 15th at 9:15 pm est. You showed up at the property on Oct. 15th at approx. 9:45 pm thinking you had a reservation for that evening. You made your reservation for arrival on Oct.16th. You were made aware of this by a staff member who happened to see you parked on the property. You drove away and did not return the next day. As per contractual agreement with Expedia, we must hold the room available, unless notified otherwise. On Oct. 17th at 11:00 pm you left a voice message. I believe you were attempting to check-in. When we received the reservation from Expedia and enter it into our system, you were sent a confirmation from us. In that confirmation is the necessary information you need for an after hours arrival, including two contact numbers if you need assistance. It wouldn't make any difference if you neglected to inform us of your late arrival because we covered that in your confirmation. We kept the room available for you and charged accordingly. We also received a FedEx package on the 17th. You called on Sunday, Oct. 18th regarding the FedEx package and came by in the afternoon to pick it up.

Filthy conditions
The bathroom was filthy especially the sink. I brought this up to the general manager's attention and rather being apologetic he became combative. If I was managing the place I would have been embarrassed and taken care of the problem ASAP. Perhaps it's time for the owners to bring someone in that actually has pride and cares for the place and knows how to treat guests right. I have stayed here many times over the years. This was definitely my last. I will never set foot in that place again. Now it makes sense why the place was deserted while we stayed there.

Dear Mark, First, I'd like to mention, we value customer feedback, when it's constructive and factual. Here's the facts and the timeline. You checked in on 10/22 and reserved a standard room with a queen bed. The room you were assigned was a King Suite, a complimentary upgrade. I believe you were not aware of the upgrade. The 23rd went by with no complaint from you or your companion. On the 24th, 2 nights after your arrival you expressed a desire to speak with me. As I approached you and your companion sitting outside of your Suite, I observed your demeanor rapidly changing. You motioned me to follow you into the bathroom where you picked up a towel and wiped the sink. You said, "Here, look at this. This is disgusting." I agreed with you. You verbally abused me in the rudest manner. Totally unacceptable behavior on your part. I responded to you with, "why did you wait 2 days to tell us?" I'm excellent in reading a person's demeanor and I couldn't make sense out of your drama. I agreed with you it was unacceptable, IF, that was the condition of the sink when you checked in 2 days prior, which it was not. As soon as you threatened me with, "wait until you see my review," I knew there would be no pleasing you. Rather than have a guest be miserable and unhappy with the accommodation, I generously offered you a FULL REFUND and find yourself alternate accommodation. You could not have been that disgusted with the accommodation. When my associate came on duty, he promptly went and cleaned your "bathroom" sink. That was ASAP. Do you realize this is over a "bathroom sink" after 2 days of personal use. On your 3rd day you expressed to my associate everything is fine. On your day of departure you arrogantly tossed your SUITE room key on my desk and left. I can't read people's mind but I can asses a person's body language, voice tone, facial expressions and know when and how to diffuse a situation from escalation. You didn't disappoint me with your "wait until you see my review." People mostly have good days and sometimes bad days, that's to be expected even more so in these trying times. Our nation is having a difficult time and the tourist industry worldwide has been devastatingly affected. We appreciate and respect every guest who chooses to stay at Cheston House. We follow CDC guidelines and beyond to ensure guest and staff safety. We honor the Safe + Clean Pledge. Myself and my staff wish you to remain well and safe.

Great place for a safe/clean escape
Felt welcomed by Chuck and staff the moment I arrived. Property reminds me of an old-school mom & pop beach hotel that has been recently updated with well maintained grounds. It has lots of character and includes many thoughtful extras for guests. Great location for everything yet felt like I escaped the world while on property. Very relaxed environment and friendly guests. Property has gone above & beyond in cleaning and practices for COVD-19.

Good value - great Guest Service
The staff is super nice - I was able to check in earlier and all went well. During my stay there was a tropical storm and the tram left a flashlight and bottled water for me just in case - nice touch. The hotel is a little outdated but comfortable. Due to COVID-19 there is no breakfast so plan your meals accordingly.

A fine place to stay.
The Cheston House is a perfectly fine place to stay, but as with all places like this, it can be dependent on the others who are staying there. Unfortunately, this was a pretty dead period so it was pretty much just a place to lay my head down. That said, the greeter was very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing, especially when the weather is good.

Very nice property. Steven who worked there was very nice and extremely accommodating. The toilet in our room began leaking the night before we left. Breakfast was to be available from 8-10am. The day we checked out no one opened the office until 10 am. Those minor issues would not prevent us from staying there again.

My "over-sleeper" apologizes for his lack of tardiness the morning you departed. It's embarrassing for me as general manager, but, we're human and situations like this happen to everyone. It's happened to me on occasion. My staff, is the backbone of support helping me run the day to day operation. They're my front line when it comes to guest satisfaction. We, (staff & management) support each other and work very well as team. We are like a family. In regards to the minor plumbing issue, thank you for bringing it to our attention. My "over sleeper" had the issue resolved within hours. It's now become an inside joke and we refer to him, from time to time, as the, "over sleeper." My closing statement (lol) we're pleased with a 4 out of 5. We're human, not perfect. We keep trying, we're successful, plus we have great guests! Thank you for the positive feedback about Steven. He's a recent addition to my staff. We look forward to your next visit at Cheston House. Come back to visit Gay Fort Lauderdale, soon. The place is quiet. The staff is very small but since they are not many amenities you really don’t need them other than getting your room clean and that was done acomodating my schedule. The pool has some issues so the water level was about two or three feet below edge. The water was clean but it was definitely not inviting and look kind of creepy. Breakfast was super simple but had the basics to get you going. For the price, compared with similar properties around the area are a bit high considering that even tho the property is clean it could really use some updates. Bed was comfy. I will definitely recommended as a place to crash in a great location but not to a place to hang out. I will probably be back there if they run rate specials.

Cheston - not a question!
Rain hampered some activity, but I actually enjoyed having the place almost to myself! I would have preferred that they didn't change towels daily (environmental reasons). Breakfast was quite modest, but it was basically what I have daily anyway. Truly nothing special.

Thank you Webb, we appreciate your feedback. In regards to towel changes, we do have an environmental policy in place. Towels will be changed if the guest places the towels on the bathroom floor. Any towels hanging, indicate not to be changed. I'll get the issue straightened out. Yes, I agree breakfast is modest. However, due to Health Dept. codes/regs there's not much more we can do without acquiring a commercial kitchen license. We do the very best we can within the allowable health code regulation. We're always open to suggestions from our guests. Feel free to contact us directly with any suggestion to improve upon what we offer.

Overall the personnel tried to be accommodating but I would have thought that they would have extra personnel, especially since it was the 4th of July. They not only put us out the gentleman that we ran into it must have been horrible. Need more staff. they all said it was their first weekend alone. We didn't get trash picked up until our 3rd day.

Dear Joe, As much as we value and appreciate guest feedback, you've not given a complete and accurate account for the basis of a score of 2 out of 5. What were we trying to accommodate? Why did you think extra personnel would be needed July 4th weekend? and how would you know if we did or did not have extra staff scheduled for the peak hours? You also make an assumption about another gentleman and how it must have been horrible. Don't speak for someone else, they may not have had any issues. Speak only for yourself and only state facts. You also say, "they all said it was their first weekend alone." I believe you have no clue about the statement you made. Who is "they all?" In regards to the trash not being picked up until the 3rd day. Trash removal from every room is at the top of the housekeeping list. What I don't know, is did you have your "Privacy Please" sign on your door. There's just no accurate and factual information in your posting. I certainly wouldn't call it a "guest review." I would like to address issues, you may have had, during your stay directly with you. I invite you to speak with the guest house manager at your convenience.
