Beautiful`

We had a lovely time at Lago Mar. It's a beautiful place. The pools, garden, and facilities were delightful. Access to the beach was perfect and one thing I truly appreciate is the protection of the sea turtle nests and consideration of the wildlife of the area.

Beach time after cruise...

Posted Jun 10, 2014
Pros: Amenities, location, cleanliness, view, staff, beautiful surroundings and building, rich history
Cons: More affordable dining prices, esp in soda shop. Wait staff was inconsistent and at times rude.
Location: Galleria mall, boardwalk
The hotel is situated on a more secluded strip of beach which made it wonderful for our family. It was less crowded and very clean with manageable surf. The property is beautiful and very well maintained. There are a number of free activities like mini-golf, ping-pong, shuffleboard and a playground to keep the kids entertained. The pools are also spacious. We enjoyed the nightly musician at the pool and the outdoor seating for meals. The concierges were very accommodating when it came to getting transportation. Our only suggestions would be to make the onsite dining more reasonable, considering that guests without cars cannot travel for more reasonable options. Even the soda shop prices were excessive, with $3 for a soda or scoop of ice cream and $5 for a latte. Also, we got conflicting pricing at meals regarding our 3 year old. Some wait staff stated he could eat for free while another said he would be charged because he was not in a high chair. It would be wise to have a consistent standard for your patrons and educate the wait staff on these standards. Overall, we loved our stay.

Great "Old Florida" feel with beautiful interiors

Posted Jun 10, 2014
Pros: Quiet & relaxing since it isn't on the beach "strip"; just a 15 minute walk to get on to the public bus & Sun Trolly (or $15 cab to Las Olas area).
Cons: Breakfast staff asked for our room key and took it, as they have been cheated in the past; card should be processed and returned IMMEDIATELY to guests
Location: Bonnet House and Gardens; Jungle Queen 3hr boat ride of millionaire mile; ate @ Grill 66 (= Ruth's Chris$$$) at Hyatt, and Sky Thai Sushi on Las Olas
This lovely hotel was clean, well-staffed, beautifully decorated and very accommodating. We had 3 breakfasts (2 in and 1 outside) and 2 dinners in the main dining room and preferred our gourmet dinners, since the eggs ordered off the menu were taken from the buffet room warming trays, and were not hot (problem was corrected when we mentioned it). We also had breakfast in the "Soda Fountain" area and this was better due to a smaller group of guests and an on-site grill. We also had lunch in the gazebo/bar and the outdoor lunch grill and enjoyed both meals (salads and sandwiches). Our massages (and my pedicure) were very good in the spa and the staff was very attentive. It's not a large spa, but does have an individual steam area attached to the shower for 1 person. The hotel is on the beach (500 ft of private beach) and there are options for free chairs, lounges and umbrellas for a fee and cabana-style covers over lounges for a fee. There wasn't a food/beverage service on the beach, but we didn't care about that. Many families were at the hotel, so we avoided the huge pool area with smaller children and went straight to the ocean that was clean and warm with a lot of boat activity on the water. Our beds were very comfortable and fairly quiet, our porch had 2 chairs and a table with an ocean and pool view. The maid service was excellent as was the concierge staff who helped us make reservations, get taxis and find discount coupons to attractions. We would return to this hotel.

Great location, Great hotel

Posted May 27, 2014
Pros: Beach
Cons: Pool area cleanliness on Monday Morning (after the weekend). At 9 am there was still cleanup going on...
This place is a 25$ taxi ride (15 minutes) from the Fort Lauderdale airport. Right on the beach, the location is great. You will have to pay for any shade (umbrellas etc.) on the beach if you don't bring your own. The staff is by far fantastic (there are a few exceptions), although sometimes the wait at the bar can be a little long if you are not a regular...great resto (a little pricey, but the quality matches what you are paying for)
