Nice hotel on the beach.

Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: Right on the beach-bus service
Cons: the hotel store items were very expensive. I really like the items they had in the store (food) but didn't purchase as it was too expensive.
Location: Location on the beach is ideal...a little far from the hustle and bustle which is good for my liking but about a 2.5 mile walk to restaurants.
we stayed two nights at the hotel and had their pizza which was very good. Drinks were expensive but probably competitively priced for Spring Break. The room was very nice and was clean. The shower did not drain well and it was hard to figure out who to tell because it said to tell the owner...which we had no idea who that was.

Gorgeous views and fun pool

Posted Mar 15, 2014
Cons: Front desk staff could definitely be nicer and more helpful
Location: Las Olas is a nice downtown
The hotel is upscale, the front desk staff were a bit stand offish, they did try to charge me for internet in the room although it was supposed to be included. They took it off the bill when I explained it was included in the rental. There are no toiletries in the rooms, because the room is owned by somebody and if anything is wrong the hotel won't fix it. Thankfully everything in our room worked. The restaurant is very good, the views and pool are awesome.

Nice resort right on the beach

Posted Mar 2, 2014
Pros: It was beautiful and luxurious. The pool had a small "lazy river" next to it and the beach was very clean.
Cons: Don't charge for every little thing, especially parking and Wi-Fi which are generally free in other hotels.
Location: There are plenty of things to do nearby. We toured the Stranahan House and the Bonnet House and walked along the shops on Olas Blvd and A1A.
We rented a hotel in this resort for two days thru Expedia and were told that we would have free Wi-Fi. The hotel claims Wi-Fi was $19.95 for each day of the stay so we didn't use it. Also Expedia said parking was to be $26 per day per car. It was really $33 per day for each of our two cars, so an extra $66 per day. You pay all that money to stay at a fancy resort and they charge you for every little thing. The wanted an extra $35 a day for housekeeping so we made our own beds and used the same towels for the two days. We couldn't see much from the oceanfront balcony because it was blocked by concrete posts so you had to stand up and look over them to see the ocean. That was a huge disappointment. The two restaurants in the hotel were outrageously expensive so we went offsite to eat. It was a beautiful place, though, and our room was very comfortable. But it sure seems to me that the nicer the place, the more ridiculous their charges are. Next time we'll stick with Hampton Inns which are comfortable, free parking, free Wi-Fi, free breakfast, free beverages and cookies, comfortable bedding and always clean and reasonably priced.

Not What It Used To Be

Posted Feb 28, 2014
Pros: The view.
Cons: The general upkeep.
I have stayed at the Pelican countless times over the years. It has been on a decline ever since they started selling the rooms within it as mini condos. This stay I selected one of these owner rentals. Upon arrival they had never heard of me and had no such reservation. It took a half hour to get this cleared up only after dragging out my laptop to show them my expedia reservation. I finally arrived in my room only to find that there were no toiletries. I called the desk and was told that was my problem. It's not included. So, after 8 hours on the plane I had to go back out to buy soap and shampoo! All the furniture was scuffed and the shower rod was broken. After a decade of staying at the Pelican, I'm over it.

Really nice pool and lazy river.

Posted Feb 25, 2014
Pros: Clean pool, lazy river, ocean a few feet away.
Cons: Wi-fi is it free in the room make it clear. The customer rents a room with wifi . Why are you telling me to talk to the owner.
Location: Location is off the main strip. Nice and quiet. No street to cross to go to the beach. However restaurants are far if you have no car.
Everthing was perfect, expect since feb 14 no soap no shampoo.was not told even tough we booked a long time ago. An email to let us know would have been great. Expedia told me in my reservation free wi-fi. No such luck however after asking the front desk about the wifi he told me i would have to talk to the owner about the wi-fi in my room. How do i talk to the owner!!You tell me. Somebody should make this smooth for the customers. I paid good money, why do i get the run around. I ended up paying 20. Dollars for 1 day of internet. Otherwise it is very nice hotel, very clean great service. Happy with great shuttle service to the airport. Good price and very helpful driver.

Charming Hotel

This is a beautiful hotel. Loved the beach and chairs on the veranda. Restaurant on premises was tasty but very expensive, and there are not close, walking distance, alternatives.

Perfect Ocean Panoramic View

Posted Feb 23, 2014
Pros: Style and charm in the public areas; nice beach; big comfortable room.
Cons: Bathroom amenities (no toiletries provided), better pillows.
Location: Perfect on-the-beach, good facilities on site, plenty of good options out in town.
Beautiful hotel with a warm feel of the last century and a cool touch of modern times. Everyone right there and eager to help if needed - or stand back if not. Our room was huge with a full panoramic view of the Atlantic. Have a meal on the veranda - not to be missed.
