“Funky, but nice”
We've been staying at this hotel for several years now every time we come down to visit my father who lives inland from here. It's not as pricey as a place on the beach, but it has a lovely view of the Intercoastal Waterway. I recommend rooms as high up as you can get, but note that the elevators always seem like they're on their last gasp. I've never had one fail, but they don't inspire confidence. We always try to take the stairs (semi-outside), but we like the exercise. Corridor between the rooms on each floor is open to wind. If it's very windy, this may seem like a hassle, but we think it adds to the charm. The staff was kind enough to upgrade our room after the first night last time at no additional charge so we could get a room on a higher floor. Yes, the place is old and beat up, but it's still comfortable.
We have never eaten the food there or tried the bar since we're with my elderly father for most of our stay, but the outdoor bar appears to be popular. Noise is not an issue.
