Very relaxing and comfy. Best location if you like to watch the boats and yachts crusing by.

We had great views of the area from our balcony and were glad to be on the 5th floor as we could see the ocean, etc. Great restaurant also.

“Pompano SUP race”

This is a great hotel, it's a bit older and I did get stuck in the elevator, but they have a nice pool overlooking the ICW. Id stay here again!

A little rough with the elevators and stairs. They are doing a great job at remodeling. Staff is terrific. Food is good too.

“Funky, but nice”

We've been staying at this hotel for several years now every time we come down to visit my father who lives inland from here. It's not as pricey as a place on the beach, but it has a lovely view of the Intercoastal Waterway. I recommend rooms as high up as you can get, but note that the elevators always seem like they're on their last gasp. I've never had one fail, but they don't inspire confidence. We always try to take the stairs (semi-outside), but we like the exercise. Corridor between the rooms on each floor is open to wind. If it's very windy, this may seem like a hassle, but we think it adds to the charm. The staff was kind enough to upgrade our room after the first night last time at no additional charge so we could get a room on a higher floor. Yes, the place is old and beat up, but it's still comfortable. We have never eaten the food there or tried the bar since we're with my elderly father for most of our stay, but the outdoor bar appears to be popular. Noise is not an issue. . Great access to Atlantic Avenue and Rte. A1A.

“fabulous balcony and view, but drive north for a better beach”

This is a great base for enjoying Fort Lauderdale up, with a very comfy room, nice-sized kitchenette, good bed, and a big bathroom/dressing room. The best part is a big balcony that looks out over an interesting (but not noisy) marina and the opening and closing bridges over the canal. The pool/restaurant and adjacent parking were also appreciated.

“Good Times!”

The Sands had a friendly staff. Though the hotel is older, the pool area and eateries are nicely kept up. It's close the to beach and some bars. Downtown Ft. Lauderdale a short ride. Being right on the water is great, and the boats that pass are unbelievable. Definitely worth the money!

“Adequate - but needs work”

Nothing wrong with the hotel, but a little run down - typical aging process in Florida climate. It was clean - met my wife's expectations for acceptability. Conveniently located on the intercoastal-walking distance to the beach. Some smoking rooms - ask for no smoking.
