4.7 stars...really?!Posted Apr 19, 2014
After extensive research my boyfriend and I decided to stay at the Atlantic hotel & spa. When we first checked in we asked for an upgraded room which they said they could accommodate for an additional $40/night, no problem! Shortly after getting comfy in our ocean front suite we get a call stating that they actually weren't able to upgrade us and we had to switch rooms. We were going to upgrade the next day but when we went to check out the room it had a horrid smell, all lights on, and dirty wet towels on the floor. Needless to say we chose to stay in our ocean view room. The room was not that bad; it definitely sufficed but the bedroom door handle fell off and one of our robes had a hole in the side. Hotel location is great; within walking distance to shops and restaurants, but far enough away from all the nightly chaos. I don't think the hotel restaurant should be known for the food because it's definitely nothing to write home about. The cocktails we ordered were poured proper but not $15 a drink proper. Everything ordered within the hotel already has an 18% gratuity added to the bill which they don't tell you about, but It is stated at the bottom. We had 2 items dry cleaned which were supposed to be returned the following night by 6 p.m...I called at 8 when we haven't received our clothes yet. The front desk said they didn't have it back yet and they couldn't get ahold of the dry cleaners. We got our stuff back the following morning...along with someone else's pants!

2nd times still a dreamPosted Apr 18, 2014
Pros: It is a luxurious, beautiful hotel. The staff tries hard including the valet service - very accommodating.
Cons: the cost of the beach chairs & umbrellas appliances & toilets in room
Location: northern part of Fort Lauderdale - we had a car so went all over. The beach is conveniently located across the street.
Although we liked it so much in Dec that we came back again in April, I was not as impressed this time. The staff was accommodating but the room had some issues. First of all, we had a suite on the first visit and thought that was what we were getting this time. This time we had a studio, which was nice but much smaller. The view though was beautiful! Our mini fridge froze and ruined a good deal of our food and the toilet did not really flush properly. We were offered a small compensation which made us less angry but really didn't cover the expense of the lost food. Also, the maid service was a little all over the place.

Nice hotel close to the beach.Posted Apr 11, 2014
Pros: Close to the beach. Clean rooms.
Cons: Food options. Customer Service.
We stayed five nights at the hotel, the overall impression was good, hotel is close to the beach, rooms very clean and it smells nice inside all throughout. On the negative side I had an encounter with a staff member at checkout that was rather rude because he didn't let me use a cart and he tried to explain me that only a valet can do that. Obviously for tip purposes. Although I tried to argue that when I checked in the same valet was clumsy and he let my laptop fall off the cart he said insurance requires it which is very hard to believe but I let it go. The swimming pool is relatively small, the same for fitness room. Occasionally there are private birthday parties at the swimming pool quite noisy. Food options are very limited in this hotel but if you have a car you can move around. Speaking of car, overnight parking is 28$. Overall I recommend only if you can get a price deal.

Excellent hotel in great location.Posted Apr 5, 2014
Very nice hotel in a great central location. Quick walk to restaurants, water taxi, mall, etc. Right across the street from the beach. The front desk mixed up our name and called us before our room was ready so they upgraded us to a suite and gave us free drinks and breakfasts. We had to give up our ocean view and the city view was not much to look at, but everything else was great.

Great locationPosted Mar 26, 2014
This is a very nice hotel on the Ft. Lauderdale beach. We had a beautiful oceanfront king suite. The rooms was very spacious with two very large bathrooms. It was more tha adequate and fully met our needs. The food is very tasty at the pool bar and at the hotel lobby restaurant. Okay, so here is the small print - this place is very very expensive. The rooms, food and beach chair rentals were very pricey. Expect to spend $$$$ many dollars. The pool has great views, overlooking the ocean, but it is small and it got pretty crowded. Internet service was choppy and unreliable. Overall, if money is not an issue, it is a beautiful place to stay.

Romantic Getaway in the Middle of Spring BreakPosted Mar 20, 2014
Pros: The beach is across the street!
Cons: The room furnishings appear to need some replacement due to wear and tear.
Location: The location is conveniently close to other restaurants, bars, etc., but nonetheless sufficiently distant to give a secluded feeling.
The staff in every area from the reception desk to room service were incredibly friendly and professional. They were quite impressive in comparison to other places we have stayed at.

Perfect beach locationPosted Mar 6, 2014
Pros: Great location, friendly staff, nice room and facility.
Cons: I always find hotel rooms to be warm at night and this was the case here. Opening the slider provided some ventilation, but a ceiling fan would help!
Location: Beach, beach, beach. Not too much to do nearby aside from trying out other restaurants. We did walk to the George English tennis courts a mile away.
We were looking to enjoy the beach in Fort Lauderdale and here was a great place to stay! The oceanfront king studio was spacious and overlooked the pool and the beach. It was great to have the kitchenette for preparation of simple breakfast and lunch if so desired. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The location of the hotel was towards the quieter side of the strip, which we liked, but was a short walk other dinner options.

This hotel boasts luxury. It's not. Our room was not cleaned twice. We had to call and ask for housekeeping. The service at the restaurant hotel was terrible especially since they automatically add an 18% gratuity. Shouldn't service be earned? The rooms r nice. Some staff was friendly. Overall would not stay here again. They really should improve the service and attentiveness to their guests.
