Weekend get away
Posted Jan 16, 2013
Booked the hotel for a weekend get away from chilly Nova Scotia. We loved the place! Rented a car at the airport, easy to find the hotel and valet parking was a breeze. The room was nicely laid out, high quality furniture and lovely bathroom. We asked for a higher floor at check-in and were given a room on the 14th floor with a nice Ocean view. The balcony was a bit noisy as there is a shopping/restaurant complex right next to the Ritz but we couldn't hear any of it with the patio door closed. The beach is across the street but there is a pedway for easy access with a Ritz beach attendant there to set up chairs, towels, umbrellas and water at no charge. You just show up and ask the attendant to set one out for you. The shopping complex has a drug store ( with beer and wine !) and some cheesy eateries. The strip where the Ritz is located has various places to eat and shop. The gym was top notch and we used it every day. My only complaint was the view of the pool from our balcony showed rust stains on the pool bottom and around the stairs, gave it a Super -8 look. My wife was grossed out by it and didn't get in the pool, it didn't bother me and you can't really see it from in the pool. Also the pool closes ridiculously early.

Excellent!!!

From the moment we arrived the staff was attentive and service driven. The Front Office Manager, Linda was outstanding. She was engaging and conversed with everyone. It was my partner's birthday and they were very conscious about making the trip special. The concierge recommended restaurants for each night and made them aware we were there for a birthday celebration. Anyone who goes to Fort Lauderdale should stay here.

Great location. Excellent service.

Pros: Location & service
Cons: White noise from a huge air conditioning unit that serviced the adjoining mini shopping centre was right underneath the balcony.
Location: Terrific location. Right in the heart of all the action, but room soundproofed against outside noises when balcony doors closed.
Great location. Excellent service. Some repair work done in pool area second day there, so had wood sawing noise going on for a couple of hours, but went to beach and avoided it. Fantastic view from balcony overlooking the ocean, but white noise from an adjoining huge air conditioning unit drowned (no pun intended) out sound of the ocean. Overall though, was an excellent hotel. Great maid service. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.

Cons: Lobby music was a bit dated, and a little too loud to carry on a personal conversation comfortably. However, this is a minor point.
Location: Beach front location in Ft Lauderdale, FL. Very easily accessible from the airport - less than a 15-20 min trip either way.
The hotel accommodations were certainly in keeping with their reputation. The entire staff from top to bottom were extremely profession, courteous and attentive. I was made to feel that I was not a burden - a feeling I sometimes encounter at other hotels, but rather the opposite. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, in spite of being there for business, and will continue to stay with the Ritz-Carlton. Thank you to everyone.

Perfect but Pricey

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights in an ocean front, king bedroom. Everything was exceptional from the bedroom to the bathroom. Though it would have been nice to be on a higher floor (we were on 8) to have a better view of the ocean. The pool is on 7 and though pretty to look at, I felt we paid for a nicer view. Didn't request a room change, so my fault. Service was very attentive, as you would expect. Definitely would stay again. Everything is very expensive, so be prepared. But so worth it!

not worth the money...

The Ritz Carlton brings to mind opulence until you stay in one. The Ritz in Fort Lauderdale was anything but impressive. Over priced and not worht it at all. If being fair, the staff in all areas, from the pool, to the lobby to the spa were pleasant and helpful. The culinary fare was also great. However, neither of those quailites warrant me spending my money on a name with nothing else to show for it...If thinking The Ritz Fort Lauderdale, DON'T!

Ritz Fort Lauderdale

Pros: Location
Cons: Staffing on holidays
Location: On the beach.
Everything about the Ritz Fort Lauderdale was excellent. My only comment is that we arrived on Easter Sunday and there did not appear to be enough staff. We had to go into the hotel to find the valet to park our car and there was only one staff member at the reception desk. Service that evening was very slow in the dining room. The rest of the week there were more than adequate staff and they were excellent.

Great location, great staff, cold design

Pros: Staff, check-in, restaurants
Cons: pool area - too small for a hotel of this size
Location: right in the middle of a wonderful beach section - could not be better
The hotel is rather big with a pool area which is rather small. It suffers from the initial design. It has a cold feeling which is unusual for Florida. But the staff is superb and very helpful and friendly. Don't know why a place of this size has just one restaurant. It could do with more.
