“GREAT for the price!”

This hotel was exactly what we were looking for - an affordable and acceptable place to stay while not seeing the area sights. The staff was very friendly, the tiki bar is a nice place for a drink, and the pool looked very inviting (if only it had been a little warmer). We walked along the beach a lot and walked to several restaurants, which was really nice not having to drive. I was amazed at the price being offered for this place, so I read all the reviews. This isn't a 4-star hotel, but they don't claim to be. The rooms are in need of some slight repair, but they are functional and clean. The refrigerator was really rusty but also functional, and everything else was more than fine. It really does have a kitchenette and dining table and lots of room! I was very pleased with this hotel and would be happy to stay there again. Just know what to expect, and you'll be very happy with the Tropic Cay Resort.

I am really satisfied from what i got the quality/price is good, well located wich is closed from all.Actually little cheap hotel having this view are rare now. From my window room i was always having the view of the ocean, crossing the street and just go for a nice walk or to the beach. It is not a 5 stars but you got for what you pay i did enjoy the place. The reception guy is always ready to help you and having a nice good morning each morning.i will back there for sure. When someone is travelling alone there is a little bar at the pool and there is always people with who we can chat

“Good deal for the price”

I'd say it was suitable for the price we paid. The room was nothing to shout about, but it did the trick (ie. I could sleep and shower). The hotel is right across from the beach which is fantastic. Its not too far from the bars either, which was a plus for me and those I was staying with.

“Would stay again”

It is not a 5 star hotel but if you are going to be on the beach and site see and just stay in your room, this is the perfect place to stay for a good price. Will for sure go back.

“Beachside bargain.”

Simply...you get what you pay for. Its rough around the edges, very noisy at night and a bit of walk to the main bars/restaurants and shops but its cheap for beachside and the staff were pleasant and very helpful.

“Try it if you're not picky.”

This hotel is all about its location across from the beautiful beach. If you care about clean balconies and stairs, having a headboard, bath mats, face cloths, and a total feeling of security, do not stay here. I would not stay here with kids, too many oddball issues. The room was mostly clean - the room cleaning staff were good. Our door had been kicked in previously and badly repaired. We blocked the pass-through door to the next room with the fridge, and secured the exterior door well at night, which is the only time we stayed in the unheated room (It was about 45 degrees at night). I would not stay here alone - too creepy. We looked at several rooms. It turned out the one that was shown first was cleanest and had the best feeling. The desk staff seem confused, but will try to help seemingly against the odds. Not enough staffing. One clerk covered Tropic Cay and the hotel next door at night. Everyone had problems with door keys not working throughout the day and night. Also, our room seemed to suck in the cigarette smoke from the exhaust chimney coming out from the Tiki Bar roof, that was pretty disgusting. All of that said, you can't beat the price and the location.

“A Different Time of Year would have made our stay great!”

The Hotel needs some TLC but it was clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed during spring break and it was noisy. The beach was across the street and we had a great view! When you want to be at the beach it is a great place to stay but it is by no means fancy. Find out ahead of time when spring break is and avoid that time period and enjoy the sea, the beach and the sun.

“Good for location and price”

Having stayed in many Ft Lauderdale motels, I was a bit nervous to see what we would get for the good price. We were pleasantly suprised. It was across the street from the beach, the pool was small but clean, the staff were friendly, the room was clean. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay RIGHT ON THE BEACH, this is it!!

“Decent cheap hotel on beach”

It was roughly what I expected, which wasn't much. The room was clean. There was no phone in the room. There was no remote control in the room until I ordered one from the front desk. The place was not very crowded but the bar was fun in the late afternoon.

“cheap but funky”

beautiful beach across street, no ice machine, most of parking on street, nice pool, no glasses or shampoo in rooms, wifi sporadic and not working in the rooms (use poolside), no food service.
