    “Great place, great location...”

Been to a number of places on Sanibel, and this was our favorite. Coconuts and The Thistle Lounge are a great asset to this resort.

wonderful stay, some maintenance was going on when we arrived but asked if we wanted them to come back. Everyone was very friendly no matter what they were doing every one greeted you.

    “CASA YBEL PERFECT”

We have stayed all over Sanibel and Captiva from modest to South Seas Plantation. Wish we had found Casa Ybel first, all the rooms have great views of the beach, this place is also right on the beach with no obstacle coarse of dune foliage between the resort and the beach. Casa Ybel is also one of the very few properties with a great pool area and a great pool bar/ resturant. We also cannot say enough about the food at the Thistle Lodge,, it was world class!!!! We loved this property so much we purchased a timeshare there. You will love it!!!!

    “Good location”

Service was mediocre. Waitress had an attitude at the bar and people were late for work checking out towels and beach equipment. There were unexpected costs for beach chairs and bicycles.

    Must see
The Ding Darling bird sanctuary was really cool. Great birds!

“Very nice, a bit old fashioned”

The hotel has very nice setting facing the beach. The room was actually a mini apartment with bedroom and sitting room with kitchenette. The general outlay and ecor are quite old fashioneded, sort of 1960's, maybe 70's. But it is clean and comfortable. And the location is perfect - facing the Gulf, and quite close to the main attracction on the island, the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge. Thus I recommend it.

“The best place on Sanibel Island!”

The view was gorgeous and the beach just steps away! Shells everywhere! The room we had was not the one pictured on the website but was still fine for us! The only issue my husband had was the light outside the bedroom window was too bright making it difficult for a good night's sleep. The kitchen was well stocked and housekeeping came in everyday. The man working at Coconuts Bar was super nice and if you go you must find Shawn to help you with bikes, beach chairs, etc.! I would definitely go back in a heartbeat! LOVED IT! Grocery stores were nice but a little pricey! Next time, I will stop at a grocer in Fort Myers and stock up!

“Was nice. Would look to other options”

Hotel was older but kept up. Room was nice and clean. Room did not have a direct view of the ocean because of large trees in the way. Tennis courts were nice and free of charge.Pool was large and well maintained. Asked about a late check out because of a later flight and was offered a 1/2 day rate of $100 to stay until 3pm? Never heard of such a request for an additonal 3 hours. Did not eat pool side or resturant. Found most places on the island to priced the same and food just ok.

    Area recommendations
Original Lazy Flamingo was good food and not fancy cold beer . Muckey Duck was fun to go to but food is overrated and overpriced. Most places are $25 for entrie on the entire lsland. Almost seems like price fixing.

    “Sanible, God's gift to us.”

My husband and I went to Sanibel for just a few days for some R&R. We had some rain storms everyday which help us relax just that much more. Waking up at sunrise, walking the beach with our coffee and tea was refreshing and romantic. After your first 15 minutes on the beach you know why everyone is doing the Sanibel Stoop. We meet a young couple who didn't know that sanible was know for its shells, needless to say by the end of our trip the young lady said "I can't stop picking up shells". We went to see the Bailey's Musuem. Well worth the trip. Bowman beach was seculded and lighthouse beach makes very secenic pictures. The peacefullness of Sanibel certainly makes you want to go back. Nature reserves are part of the island. Between the sunshine, beautiful beaches, warm rain storms, and wildlife you know God has given us all a gift to treasure.

    When to go
Anytime is beautiful but if you want to go shelling the best time of the year is in the winter. Although anytime of the year the shells are bountiful.
    Getting around
You can rent bicycles, but a car is needed to go to stores and restuarants.
    What to pack
Extra carrying case to bring your shells home. Sunscreen, water shoes, sneaker, shorts, bathing suit and dinner outfit. Water shoes makes it much easier to walk the beach as there as many shells on the beach, it is eaiser to walk into the water for a specific shell with watershoes. Dinner was causal dress (sundress, dresspants and shirt,) You can purchase shelling bags at the grocery store in sanibel it makes it easier when you are walking the beach to carry all of you shells. Also many people purchase nets and shovels, I was told if you dig down a inch in the sand you can find many other shells.
    Dining
    A wide assorment of restuarants.
    Outdoors or beach
Bowman beach and light house beach has bathrooms, changing rooms and showers.
