Great location close to beach

Posted Mar 24, 2014
Pros: Great location - close to beach. Kitchenette in room.
Cons: Unplug the overpowering air freshener in the hallways.
Location: Sanibel Island with its Ding Darling preserve and Ford/Edison Estates easy half-day trips.
At first glance, I didn't think I'd like staying at Flamingo Inn because the room seemed small. That just turned out to be because the management put too large of a dining table and 4 chairs in the room. We moved some furniture around to make it work better for us. Although it was still very compact with 2 beds, dining table and kitchenette; the furnishings were nice and the kitchenette had everything to prepare meals. Best of all, it was a reasonably priced room that while not right on the beach, was just a minute's walk away, with beach towels and beach chairs provided. For the price and location, I would stay there again.

The staff was friendly. The room a bit small and no balcony. But overall a pleasant stay.

Nice little place to stay

They were really great about getting us checked in early .the room was clean and comfortable. It's far enough down fort myers beach that it was not to crowded . The only problem this time of year was getting off and on fort myers beach the traffic is crazy

Nice little place

Posted Mar 9, 2014
Pros: Very helpful staff. They will loan you a beach umbrella and chairs to take down to the beach.
Cons: The place was really perfect. We had a studio apartment and it was really very small, but they can't change that.
Location: Restaurants within easy walking distance. Short walk down to the beach. This was a nice quiet part of the beach with more birds than people.
We only stayed 2 nights, but we enjoyed our stay.

good, clean and great location...but small rooms

Posted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: excellent location near the beach and away from the noise of the strip and good value compared to other hotels on Fort Myers Beach
Cons: needs to upgrade wifi service
The Flamingo is in a good location near the beach, <5 minutes away. It's near the southern end of Fort Myers Beach so that means it's rather far from the main bar scene and night life. That may or may not be considered an asset depending upon what your needs are. Traffic on the only road through the beach can be horrendously slow so it is often a pain getting from one area of the beach to another. We stayed at the Flamingo for 3 nights...the rooms are clean, equipped with frig and stove, guest laundry, and we had no problem with housekeeping....only problem we had was the wifi signal was so weak, we couldn't get a working internet connection. No problem with this hotel for a short stay but the room we had was very small and cramped.....not really suitable for a long stay.

Old hotel. Thin walls.

Cons: Remodelling. New towels and bedding.
Towels were old and appeared dirty, but could have been just overly worn. No hot water for the shower. When I checked out the staff told me, "Oh. yeah, a valve was switched and if you had turned the shower dial to cold, it would have been hot." Too late.

Close to beach

Posted Feb 20, 2014
Pros: Location to the beach, Close to trollee pick up seven 11
Cons: sweeping floors, beds, clean sheets
Location: Trollee pick up, strip mall down the street, about 4.5 miles from Town center. Not very close to food.
Size of a room isn't a big deal to me. Bed, bathroom, mini fridge perfect! The issue I had was cleanliness of the room. Clean when we go there but the only thing they did daily was take out our garbage, bring new towels, and make the bed. Which is usually fine. But when you are close to a great sandy beach (like you are) by the second day there was sand over the floor and in the sheets. Just a pet peeve. The other thing was the bed was very worn out. Dips on both sides with a hump in teh middle. Don't have back issues but every morning my back and hips hurt. It is a great cost but just something to keep in mind.

Nice room, close to beach.

Staff was very friendly, helpful, it was a nice place to stay. Our air conditioner was musty, we opened window and it was fine. The smell was overpowering and we couldn't use the air conditioning. Had the temperature been high this would have been a big problem. They supply beach chairs and beach towels. We would stay there again, but check the air conditioner first!
