Basic hotel on the beach, abit of a walk into Fort Myers Beach town, had lovely ice cream there and caught trolley bus back. Restaurant and bar staff were excellent, lots of atmosphere in the evening around the pool bar.

Be careful

When I booked it was a Holiday Inn. When I got there it was a Wyndham. They are in the process of taking over, so maybe they deserve some slack, but the rooms are fairly run down, not to the Holiday Inn standard I've come to expect. 3 days in I pulled the covers off the bed and someone else's shorts and underwear fell out. That tells me the bedding was not changed between guests. Disgusting beyond words. Would never go back there again.

Disappointing

Pros: Location
Cons: Enforce parking regulations. Improved housekeeping Clean stairways
Location: Beach location. Need car to get to the "real Ft. Myers beach
Thought the room looked clean until I went to make coffee and old grinds were in the pot! The stairways looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. Great location, parking is difficult as beach goers use it while on the beach taking up valuable space. Was attending a wedding and the food was terrible, Shrimp, cheese, ,crackers, cake and fruit were fine. Chicken and beef was terrible..

Good for beach goers

We liked that the hotel is right on the beach. Very convenient. The room itself was nice, clean and comfortable. The conditions of the hotel grounds were not excellent and we weren't very impressed with the onsite restaurant. For what we paid, I would stay there again and recommend the hotel to friends looking to stay somewhere affordable.

Saved by the Belle?

Pros: Beach location.
Cons: OMG...everything! Start by getting rid of incompetent and overwhelmed management. Promote really good guest relations people.
Location: Sort of out of the way part of Ft. Myers Beach. Good for a restful stay.
This stay would have been a disaster except for the kind, professional courtesy of Maxine at the front desk, who personally saw to it that my experience was not a total disappointment. First, the ugly: when I checked in I was told that the hotel was no longer a Holiday Inn property, but a Wyndham property. No problem with that, but I was not told that they would be repaying the driveway right beneath my first room and that I would have to inhale noxious tar fumes. Second, the original room was a disaster. The wireless never worked, the phone didn't either, which meant that bringing the wireless problem to the attention of management meant that I had to walk down to the office several times. There were ants all over the mini fridge. There was grime and dirt and rust throughout the room, and the air conditioning was inadequate. I explained this to two regular managers and got "that's the breaks" sort of responses until I happened to mention it to Maxine, who personally saw to it that I was moved to an acceptable room. Her kindness and guest service acumen made the rest of my stay welcomed. I will say that the beach is huge and wonderful and that if Wyndham ever invested in updating the property, not just the parking lot, I could recommend it, but for now, I cannot. One last note, the service people were all generally nice, from the bartenders, to wait staff, to housekeeping. They are just dealing with an outdated and run down facility.

near beach

Location to the beach was great. The hotel was going through some renovation so was a little messy on the outside. Fortunately they did not start early so it didn't bother our sleep but this was going on right next door to our room. The air conditioning unit was loud and did bother my sleep.

Pros: friendly staff, clean facility close to beach
Cons: not much, lower rates possibly
loved the proximity to the beach, the tiki bar & the pool w/an ocean view. shops & restaurants across the street. miles of beach to walk & explore. Dolphin sightings etc... All you need in a vacation location.
