Great experience. Nice place to relax

Will be back. Great room and facility. Only thing that could be better is the breakfast. All pastries and boiled eggs gets a little old. Hot breakfast would be nice optional extra given there is nothing close by unless you cook in your own room.

Schönes Hotel mit Servicemängeln

Posted Dec 7, 2014

Pros: Friendly staff and a nice facility.
Cons: No computer desk. Had two big dressers..... only needed one.
Location: Sanibel Island says it all for the beauty of the area.......nice little shops and plenty of restaurants were a plus.
Thanksgiving get-away. Wanted to be on a beach and no cooking.

Nice hotel on beach

Posted Nov 25, 2014
Pretty good place overall right on the ocean. Good value overall for Sanibel. Rooms are pretty good, but walls are thin. Location on the island is pretty good. Pool is small. Breakfast only consists of fruit, yogurt, patries and hard boiled eggs. No toast (kinda strange), would think there would be toast options before pastries.

Something's Missing

Posted Nov 25, 2014
Pros: The free shell-collecting session at the Island Inn was the best thing going.
Cons: The energy level, the continental breakfast, the bar and lunch facilities.
Location: $24 T-shirts, $6 bridge toll. The Sanibel Lighthouse looks like an old oil rig. Maybe enclose it in wood and make it attractive.
I don't know what it is about the Island Inn. It has so much potential. It has a beautiful setting on the ocean. The rooms are incredibly clean and spacious. The grounds are manicured to perfection. The staff at breakfast are cheery and smiling all the time. And that's where it ends. Frank Sinatra music played in a loop every morning as the same stock of hard boiled eggs and pastries were available at the free continental breakfast. No change up in the variety. Same eggs, same pastries, some time the eggs were soft boiled maybe by accident. Same music, same faces of guests who were not really a friendly bunch. Very methodic, predictable place, no surprises, no excitement. More like a country club on the ocean with the golf course. If all you want to do is collect shells, and watch the sun set, this is the place for you. It would be nice if there was an outside bar with some upbeat music, with some light food for lunch. The rooms have nice tile floors, but if you are on the ground level floor like my wife and I were, you hear all the feet stomping above on the floor above and the wooden chairs screeching on the tile. I think there was a big foot in the room above us. It wouldn't take much to launch this place into the modern era where youthful guests would feel welcomed. Sanibel is an island, but the Island Inn feels like an island in itself.
