“Location Location Location”

OK, I admit I'm here during the off season enjoying cheap rates. This place is Awesome!! I had a great time and it's a great value. The room isn.t fancy but was 100% functional and actually quite clean. Your balcony has a great view and being in room 506 allowed me to have an even better view. The beach recovery project has provided for a huge white sand beach. All the staff is friendly and welcoming. The 7-11conv. store is directly across the street so access to cheap beer and cabbies is easy. My return flight is at six AM so I couldn't rental a car. I hopped on the red 50 bus route at RSW ground level which with my bags took me to Summerlinn Square for $1.25 exact change. Same bus stop 15 minutes later and only 50 cents poorer I was on the new fancy beach trolley which took me right to the Lani Kai. Heading back on a 6AM flight which will require a $45 RSW shuttle fare plus tip but I'm about to head over to the 7-11 and see if I can barter a better cash deal from a cabbie. I am a seasoned traveler and hitting this place in the off season is a super value. I'm sure it's insane from late Feb. until mid April with Spring Breakers. This place has a family feel to it and I felt good about spending my hard earned money here. Make sure you catch the upstairs bar/resturant between 4and 7 PM for good drink and food specials. Tonight I had the prime rib special with lightly steamed crisp veggies and a baked tater for under $12 plus tax.

Area recommendations
Walk toward the pier and every 100 feet there is a bar/food joint competing for your business. One place had dollar 16OZ drafts of Yeingling during happy hour. Near the bridge in the Times Square area the Light House bar/hotel always had a band and a willing to dance crowd which catered to my demograghics. I'm 50.

“don't go here unless you're 25 years of age or younger”

We were told we would have a non-smoking "kitchenette" room, so we planned to do some cooking in our room. What we found out is that a "kitchenette" at the Lani Kai is a microwave oven and a refrigerator. Our room had definitely been smoked in, and the door had been broken into such that the deadbolt no longer functioned. We were bitten by bugs, but not sure what type. We don't think they were bedbugs, but rather no-seeums. The view, the upstairs restaurant, and the beach access were the only positives. Loud music until at least 2 a.m. every night, along with paper thin walls prevent any prolonged sleep.

“Will try again!”

Very old hotel. Could definitely use some updating!!! However, the rooms were clean and comfortable. We also got a complimentary upgrade because they had booked all of the rooms that expedia included in their price. The restaurant on top of the Lani Kai had live entertainment almost every night we went and they were all very sweet to our family, which included a 2 year old. On the downside, the food was just ok, not great. We did not try the buffet, but heard good things about it. The reason I would definitely stay here again is the location. The beach view is fantastic!! The balcony is a great place to watch the sunset! There are a ton of restaurants and shops all within walking distance of this hotel.

“Will not stay again”

If you are planning on sleeping at night, do not stay here, unless you plan to drink yourself stupid. (this coming from a 25 year old) It was a great atmosphere if you are there for spring break. There is a bar on the roof top that shuts down at 10pm, and a bar on the ground level that has live music until 2 am. Both which can be heard from the rooms you sleep in. The rooms are not very up to date on cleanliness. The first night, we pulled the covers down to discover dirty toddler socks tucked between the top sheet and mattress cover. The tv quit working several times, the room phone did not work to call down to the desk. The bathroom literally used to be a closet, it still had the sliding closet doors and the toilet leaked all over the floor by then, WHAT WAS THE POINT IN SAYING ANYTHING. But the biggest kicker, was they HOLD a deposit on your card, WITHOUT informing you, until 3 days after you are checked out. Nowhere in the paperwork signed was it stated $25 dollars a night would be held, and we had two rooms for 4 nights. Granted the money is released, but plan on taking extra cash so that your vacation money is not held. I would not stay there again FOR FREE.

STAY AT THE LIGHTHOUSE INN we had family staying there as well, and it was very very nice, right in the center of the strip.

“Lani Kai stay...”

My stay at Ft. Myers Lani Kai was good except for one thing, you are not allowed to take a cooler to the beach. They want you to buy all your drinks, alcohol, food from there restaurants...We was not aware of this rule, and a man we called "cowboy bob" told us the first day and so we put it up. We did take a small beach bag for our tanning lotions, towels ect. For the next two days the security guard "aka cowboy bob" walked around us literally looking at us and came right up to us and said he was looking for moisture coming from our beach bag. I was like hey you told us we could not bring any food or drinks we dont have anything you want to look in our bag. It was so rude. Everyday we ordered drinks from a waitress on the beach at Lani Kai, and the waitress's was VERY NICE..but I felt the security guard invaded our space and that I DID NOT LIKE. That is my only complaint, other then that I would stay again. Everyone else including the guys who put the chairs up and run the wave runners, the cleaning people, all very nice :)

“Dirty, Loud Hotel, Not Kid Friendly, Mainly for Partiers”

The room was so raunchy. The only good thing it had going for it was the good food in the restaurant. It was loud in the morning with tractors starting up around 7 or 8 and was loud until late at night. Don't expect to get any rest. Also, there is no so-called Arcade. Total misrepresentation. I would never stay there again. I would stay at the Pink Shell - much more upscale and not dirty at all. The towels/wash clothes were disgusting and there was no screen to keep the bees ouf the room, which I'm highly alergic to. Horrible room. The beach view was great. Room Service was fast I must say. If you're not going to stay in your room much then it's ok. But for relaxation and a nice room, forget about it. My child (5 years old) was highly disappointed about the "no arcade". Oh yeah, and the pool was on the roadside. What hotel doesn't have the pool facing the ocean. Not a good set up. They need to overhaul the whole hotel!

Area recommendations
Go the opposite way, towards the Best Western and Pink Shell.

“Things have changed”

Even though the rooms are being updated nicely, the overall friendliness of this resort has gone way downhill since last January. We felt harassed by certain members of the staff when we wanted to sit in front of the resort and have a drink we made in our room. Seems one must purchased overpriced beer from the bars downstairs if one wants to enjoy the beach. I can see why people from other motels shouldn't be allowed to bring in alcohol, but for those paying guests at this resort I would think there should be a little more leeway. The quality of the restaurant on the roof has gone down quite a bit since January as well. By our third night we were certain we did not want to eat there again.

Area recommendations
Fort Myers Beach and Lover's Key are fantastic beaches. My personal favorite for shelling is Coya Costa.

“Love the Lani Kai”

If you're looking for peace and quiet, the Lani Kai is not for you. If you're looking for a place where you can have a good time and noise doesn't bother you, you will love it there. The entertainment was good and the food at the hotel restaurants is great and reasonably priced. Employees are very nice and helpful. Any thing you need is within walking distance. I have stayed there twice and can't wait to go back!

Getting around
Everything you need is within walking distance. Park the car and leave it!
Dining
The hotel restaurants are great and reasonably priced. Also many other restaurants within walking distance.
Nightlife
Had a wonderful time listening to great music at the hotel and great live Rock & Roll next door at the Cottage. This is not a place where you have to worry about "quiet time."
Outdoors or beach
The beach is very beautiful and clean.

Fort Myers Beach, Florida, United States of America: Decidedly less ritzy than other Florida seaside towns, Fort Myers Beach is a favorite destination for families. Area singles, too, also pass the time here, especially at Lynn Hall Memorial Park and at Time Square’s bars, restaurants, and shops.
