Much Nicer Than Expected

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Having a full kitchen was great, new mem foam mattresses, and a bathroom that was bigger than a broom closet all adds up to a really nice room.
Cons: ONLY comment on improvement: housekeeping- leave enough wash cloths for each room occupant. 3 people need 3 wash cloths, not 1 or 2.
Location: Great location away from busy area by bridge/public beach. Lots of places to shop, variety of boat tours, Lovers Key is minutes away by car.
check in was easy, woman working the counter was pleasant. Complimentary bottled water and a beach bag with hotel logo on it come with the room. We had a ground floor Deluxe Beachfront, and were very happy to be able to open our sliding doors onto our own lanai just steps from the sand. We had the perfect spot for viewing those fantastic sunsets, and the dolphins that swim around in the early morning. Days consisted of getting up, having coffee, going down to the beach for a long soak in the warm water, back to the lanai to sit and drip a bit, back in the water, back to the room, and then all we had to think about was where to have dinner... Hard to leave..

A nice property at a great location

Posted May 11, 2014
Pros: Almost everything. The main pool that allows kids is the best pool on the premises. The pool suites are the best, but the gulf side rooms may be also.
Cons: Wood cabinetry and carpeting replacement, and the old Kenmore electric range need to be upgraded.
Location: It is all about the sand and the water in Fort Myers Beach, and the Sandpiper does it all great.
We stayed at the Sandpiper from April 29th until May 9th, 2014. We had a pool suite, number 120, first floor with a private terrace on ground level, right next to the pool deck, with a low shrub for separation. All the first floor pool suites are alike. There are 2 double beds which have upgraded mattresses. There is an entrance door off the parking lot and a sliding window wall for pool deck and patio areas access. The layout is great. A small private bathroom with updated fancy tiling has bath and shower, with adjacent powder room, sink and mirror, open to the sleeping area, and a large (for a hotel room) closet. The kitchen was very well equipped as far as cookware and dishes and flatware and all of the necessary gadgets like toaster, can opener, spatulas, dish towels, etc. A small bottle of dish soap was furnished. We did most if not all of our own dish washing. A modern programmable microwave floats above the 2 burner electric range, which has seen better days but worked fine. The fridge was full sized with a handy ice box but no ice maker. Kitchen table and 4 chairs. Old fashioned A-C unit in the exterior wall back of the eating area at floor level. Nice flat screen TV right in front of the left hand bed. The only reason I could not rate this resort a 5 star is the condition of the wood cabinetry and old carpeting, which are worn our and in need of serious replacement. Other than that we just loved this place!

Comfortable, clean, very relaxing

Posted May 7, 2014
This gem was more than I expected. From the ease of check in, pleasant staff, very clean rooms and grounds, it was relaxing from the moment we arrived. Rooms adequate sized with a convenient, fully furnished kitchenette. Grocery store nearby. Our room was ground level, so from our patio where we had our morning coffee, the pool was steps away. Just a little further was the beach. I can't say enough... More adult crowd; few kids so it was fairly quiet. Can't wait to go back.

Gorgeous location and room.

Posted May 3, 2014
Pros: The room was very spacious and beautiful. Location was perfect. Not desolate or crowded.
Cons: Really, can't think of anything. Maybe a tiki bar or restaurant at the hotel would be great, but not needed. Plenty of places nearby to eat or drink.
Location: It was quiet on our end of the beach. Got to see some dolphins in the morning and even the fishing was great. Plenty to do in area.
Sprung for the suite and was very pleased with it. With a large family, we were comfortable, relaxed and still had a lot of fun. We will definitely be going again and probably slinging again for the suite.

Pros: Quiet , clean, kitchen in room. Very nice staff
Location: Mid island location. Grocery store only a block away.
Clean room, quiet surroundings. Not overly populated like the other end of the island. Older hotel but updated.

Very nice, on the beach and so relaxing. In the middle of the island with not much around, but hey, it is vacation bliss.

Nice, clean, family friendly hotel right on the beach. Perfect for long walks in both directions on the beach. Out of the crowds but a close drive away from everything. Great store within walking distance.

Spring Break 2014

Posted Mar 29, 2014
Pros: The beach was quiet and not crowded. Nice grounds.
Cons: They need a better internet connection. It would've been nice to have a snack bar with drinks at the pool.
Location: Traffic was terrible! It took us 45 minutes to an hour to get to Times Square. They said it's just always that busy in March.
The weather didn't cooperate but we had a few nice days with lots of sun. The beach was beautiful and we had a nice view of the pool and beach from our patio.
