Quiet, comfortable hotel on the beach

Posted Apr 11, 2014
Pros: Small, old style Florida charm. Staff extremely helpful and courtious. Nice continental breakfast.
Cons: At some point the addition of bathroom vent fans would be nice.
Location: Close proximity to beaches and restaurants.
Very private and relaxing. Rooms are spacious and clean. Balconies/patios are screened in and very nice. Pool is beautifully maintained. Adjacent property is a sister hotel with a very nice restaurant.

A nice small hotel, right on the beach

Posted Apr 9, 2014
If you prefer smaller hotels to larger resorts, then you will like this hotel. The rooms are ok, they could do with a little modernisation, and some mats for the tiled floor. The bathroom is also quite small, but it's functional. The free breakfast is surprisingly good, with a good range including fruit, cereals, bagels, pastries and even make your own waffles. The free bikes to hire are also great - the island is flat with lots of cycle paths; it is the best way to get around. It is about a 15 minute walk to the nearest restaurant (although there may be some hotel restaurants a bit nearer at some of the neighboring resorts), but this is pretty standard on the island as all the hotels and resorts are on the beach with the restaurants lining the main avenue that runs down the middle of the island.

Quiet, charming place close to the beach

Posted Apr 3, 2014
We found Song of the Sea to be quiet, restful, immaculately clean and uniquely charming with an "Old Florida" feel to it. It looked like all the rooms had a private screened-in porch with a view of the pool and palm trees and a short boardwalk led to the beach. Wish we could have stayed longer. The only thing lacking was a comfortable chair inside the room to read in.

Nice hotel close to beach.

Pros: The location, the staff, and the size, not too large.
Cons: Our room was a bit dark, and smelled a bit of mildew. It is a shame there isn't a screen on the door to front door to allow cross-ventilation.
Location: Great location near (but luckily not on) Periwinkle with all of the businesses and traffic. Right on the bike bath.
The staff are lovely and very helpful. Nice breakfast in the morning. The fresh orchid in the vase in our room, next to the complimentary bottle of wine was a very nice touch!

Old and outdated.

Posted Feb 23, 2014
Pros: It was a quiet, intimate, environment. The pool area looks like it was recently updated and rivals pools at many of the big chain hotels.
Cons: Curb appeal is not too good and needs immediate help. The rooms need to be updated and the paths around the buildings and grounds need to be improved.
Location: Lots of restaurants and shops accessible by bike paths. Nature preserve, boat cruises and great beaches and scenery.
The facility was in an excellent location but was old and outdated, showing lots of wear and tear. It was the only rental property on the strip with an unpaved driveway/entryway. The room that we stayed in was clean but really showed lots of wear and tear, particularly the floors and furnishings. They don't go out of their way to make you feel "pampered", like you probably should feel, considering the price you pay. The continental breakfast was sub-par, to put it kindly.

Lovely hotel by the beach

Posted Feb 23, 2014
Pros: It was very quiet and peaceful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast each morning was fantastic!
Cons: We had a little problem with the towel service. One day we only received one washcloth and another day we only received one bath towel.
Location: This was very easy to get to. We rode bikes on the trails, lounged by the pool, sat on the beach, hunted shells every day and visited the Lighthouse.
We enjoyed our stay very much! The staff was very nice and helpful!!
