Plan to return!

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: The hotel and the grounds were immaculate... very beautiful!!
We booked a harbor view. The room was very clean, and the bathroom spacious. The view looked like the picture on the site. Unfortunately, the dock was under repair, so we were looking at a barge loaded with lumber and a back hoe, but that was not a big deal to us. There really are manatees in the harbor every day, there are a variety of pools to suit kids and adults, and the beach is a short walk away. We had a great time"shelling," and came home with some little treasures. The free breakfast for kids is not a money-saver; an adult b'fast is $23 a person. The food was expensive, but not much more than similar restaurants on San-cap islands. The pizza/ice cream shop was a favorite with the kids. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We took our 7 and 2 year old kids--they had a blast! This is a very family-friendly place; we intend to go back!!

One of our favorite family vacations.

Posted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: It's family fun at it's best with something for everyone. We love having drinks poolside while our kids swim and play. We loved all the activities.
Cons: We thought ten dollars for the crab races was a bit steep. The prize of an ice cream coupon is less than the price of playing the game.
Location: Great restaurants, shopping, beach, boating, golf, tennis...
We had a wonderful time at South Seas over the 4th of July. Our beach view condo was perfect for our family. We had a great time at the pool on the 4th of July and loved the extra activities for the kids such as making s'mores and watching the fireworks. The fireworks display was spectacular. From pizza and ice cream at Scoops and Slices, a nice dinner at Harborside and Doc's Rum Bar, we also loved having a kitchen to prepare meals from the little grocery store at the resort. The trolley was fun to ride around the resort although it would have been great to have a golf cart. We didn't reserve one soon enough, but I would recommend it. The beach was beautiful, the pools were fun, and our kids had a blast.

Thank you for spending your 4th of July holiday weekend with us. We're glad you enjoyed the special events, including the revival of the beachfront fireworks. We do a lot of great extra events over holidays, so if you're ever wondering where to go for a holiday, please keep us in mind. Family resort

Posted Jul 4, 2014
Based on amenities, secure location, food choices, etc, perfect resort for families with teens and/or tweens. Captiva has 5 star restaurant in Mad Hatter and 3 4 star restaurants with Bubble Room, Green Flash and The Mucky Duck. Only weakness of this resort is that the staff of South Seas has obviously not been trained very well in true tourism hospitality. Most of the staff seemed to treat guests as if they were a bother to them, not all, but the majority.

Nice Hotel

Posted Jun 28, 2014
Cons: Have rooms ready by 4 as stated.
Notified hotel prior to our early arrival do to flight schedule. Check in time is scheduled for 4 did not get in room until 6. The harbourside restaurant had a $100 charge to our room that was not ours, after some discussion the charge was removed. That particular restaurant is a ripoff. Doc Fords, Mucky Duck, and RC otters are much better and not as expensive. The resort is very clean. Overall an enjoyable vacation.

All about the family

Posted Jun 24, 2014
Upon arrival we were impressed by how accomidating the staff was with allowing us an early check in no questions asked. Our room was pristine and the view didn't disappoint. Our stay was amazing even after our accident out 2 year old suffered. She fell down some steps and suffered a large cut to her eye. Security responded quickly and had fire and rescue there in minutes. When we returned from the hospital our room had a care package including a stuffed animal for our daughter waiting. The manager called shortly after offering any assistance we may require. Overall we loved it.

Resort has a lot to offer

Posted Jun 23, 2014
The south end is quiet and relaxing. The north end is busy, lots of things for kids to do. The trolley is great if you want to experience both worlds. We stayed in a beach villa on south beach. The villa was bare bones. If you want a nice villa book directly with the resort.

Nice beach front condo

Posted Jun 21, 2014
Pros: The condo was well maintained. We had a fabulous view of the sunset and loved the beach service.
Cons: The bedrooms were a little stuffy. Ceiling fans would have been nice since the air conditioner was loud in the rooms. Drain in the tub was clogged.
Location: The beach and water sports
Our condo was very clean with an excellent sunset view and great access to the beach and pool. We enjoyed the beach chair and umbrella service everyday! The staff was always friendly and helpful. The grounds were well maintained. Overall, we really enjoyed a week of comfort and relaxation.

Quality of stay depends on building you're in

Posted Jun 17, 2014
We stayed in the Bayside Villas, which are 1 to 3 bedroom units that are past their prime. The first room we were put in desperately needed upgrades and a good cleaning. We asked to be moved and were then placed in a corner unit that was slightly cleaner and less dilapidated. The whole building needs interior updating and a thorough, deep cleaning. The pools and proximity to beach are pretty decent. The other thing that could make the guest experience better is more literature in the room about the restaurants and facility amenities.

Quiet, serene place

Posted Jun 15, 2014
Pros: We liked that the pool area was usually quiet and peaceful. It was a nice place to walk on the beach.
Cons: I would like to see the rooms have security chains or peep holes on the doors. I would also like to see a simple café like the Sanibel Café.
2 pools were clean, very warm and view of ocean was amazing! We had a 3 bedroom, 2 bath beach villa on the ocean.
