Beautiful resort with endless activities.

Posted Jul 31, 2014
Very nice resort, but our villa was in need of much repair! Nothing worked properly and it needed a good cleaning! The harborside restaurant was excellent! Outstanding service and excellent food. I would reserve a golf cart or bicycles to get around the island. Everything you do, rent, purchase or eat is charged to your room with built in gratuity. No wallet needed.

Awesome family vacation (teens even loved it!)

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: The grounds of the hotel are kept extremely clean. Pools are busy, but who goes to the pool when you are living on the Gulf of Mexico.
Cons: Rooms could be a little cleaner.
Location: Biking and shopping in Sanibel and restaurants in town.

Very Nice Hotel on the beach

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Location, grounds are gorgeous, staff is excellent.
Cons: An upscale restaurant would be a nice addition to the OK ones on the premises.
Location: Great beach, great cruise tours, excellent restaurants to be discovered within Captiva and Sanibel islands.
Location could not be better: right on the water. Views from our room (harbourside view) were amazing. Great new room and kept perfectly clean. Very well trained and courteous staff. Take advantage of the boat and waverunner tours that are offered to view nearby islands, dolphins and sunsets. These are well worth the price.

Plan to return!

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: The hotel and the grounds were immaculate... very beautiful!!
We booked a harbor view. The room was very clean, and the bathroom spacious. The view looked like the picture on the site. Unfortunately, the dock was under repair, so we were looking at a barge loaded with lumber and a back hoe, but that was not a big deal to us. There really are manatees in the harbor every day, there are a variety of pools to suit kids and adults, and the beach is a short walk away. We had a great time"shelling," and came home with some little treasures. The free breakfast for kids is not a money-saver; an adult b'fast is $23 a person. The food was expensive, but not much more than similar restaurants on San-cap islands. The pizza/ice cream shop was a favorite with the kids. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We took our 7 and 2 year old kids--they had a blast! This is a very family-friendly place; we intend to go back!!

One of our favorite family vacations.

Posted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: It's family fun at it's best with something for everyone. We love having drinks poolside while our kids swim and play. We loved all the activities.
Cons: We thought ten dollars for the crab races was a bit steep. The prize of an ice cream coupon is less than the price of playing the game.
Location: Great restaurants, shopping, beach, boating, golf, tennis...
We had a wonderful time at South Seas over the 4th of July. Our beach view condo was perfect for our family. We had a great time at the pool on the 4th of July and loved the extra activities for the kids such as making s'mores and watching the fireworks. The fireworks display was spectacular. From pizza and ice cream at Scoops and Slices, a nice dinner at Harborside and Doc's Rum Bar, we also loved having a kitchen to prepare meals from the little grocery store at the resort. The trolley was fun to ride around the resort although it would have been great to have a golf cart. We didn't reserve one soon enough, but I would recommend it. The beach was beautiful, the pools were fun, and our kids had a blast.

Family resort

Posted Jul 4, 2014
Based on amenities, secure location, food choices, etc, perfect resort for families with teens and/or tweens. Captiva has 5 star restaurant in Mad Hatter and 3 4 star restaurants with Bubble Room, Green Flash and The Mucky Duck. Only weakness of this resort is that the staff of South Seas has obviously not been trained very well in true tourism hospitality. Most of the staff seemed to treat guests as if they were a bother to them, not all, but the majority.

Nice Hotel

Posted Jun 28, 2014
Cons: Have rooms ready by 4 as stated.
Notified hotel prior to our early arrival do to flight schedule. Check in time is scheduled for 4 did not get in room until 6. The harbourside restaurant had a $100 charge to our room that was not ours, after some discussion the charge was removed. That particular restaurant is a ripoff. Doc Fords, Mucky Duck, and RC otters are much better and not as expensive. The resort is very clean. Overall an enjoyable vacation.

All about the family

Upon arrival we were impressed by how accomidating the staff was with allowing us an early check in no questions asked. Our room was pristine and the view didn't disappoint. Our stay was amazing even after our accident out 2 year old suffered. She fell down some steps and suffered a large cut to her eye. Security responded quickly and had fire and rescue there in minutes. When we returned from the hospital our room had a care package including a stuffed animal for our daughter waiting. The manager called shortly after offering any assistance we may require. Overall we loved it.
