Perfect beach getaway

Great location, friendly staff. I was pleasantly surprised to find a full kitchen in my room. Get to the beach around 8am to snag an umbrella and chairs for the day.

Beach front fun for the family

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: The all inclusive rate and the incredible staff.
Cons: Add a vending machine with snack foods - chips, crackers, popcorn. Offer weekly rates or discounts for staying 4 nights or for returning guests.
Location: Sanibel lighthouse, Periwinkle place for shopping, Bailey Matthews museum, St Isabel's Catholic church. Mucky Duck for sunsets.
As a returning guest to Sunset Beach Resort, I had a good idea of what to expect. Upon walking into the reservation area, I was pleasantly greeed and found our room was ready (even though we had arrived early.) I was told about all of the resort amenities (continental breakfast, pool - hours, beach umbrellas and lounge chairs, bikes, tennis raquets, shuffle board. All of these items are included - not an additional resort fee. This is greatly appreciated. Also, I was told about Island Night at the Twins Minor league affiliate. The tickets were free. We went to the game. It was so much fun. Even upgraded our seats to the front row for a minimal cost. The newly remodeled room was the exact beach feel we were looking for - the file floor was the first thing to catch my eye. The pops of yellow throughout gave the room a warm feel. The staff were exceptional. Alain the groundskeeper was always available to help with whatever would make our stay more enjoyable - from making sure the umbrellas and lounges were set out timely in the morning to changing a lightbulb in our room to even helping with the safe (when I fat fingered the access code.) Kim at the front desk always had a pleasant greeting when I would come through the door. She was very informative about not only about the resort but about Sanibel and Captiva. Housekeeping would come in, do their job and get out - trying to not interrupt if we were in the room.

Older but updated hotel close to the beach

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Every room has an endless view of the water and the hotel sports beach access. This hotel is older but updated and my sister and I enjoyed a comfortable room and bathroom with kitchenette facilities at a great price. Lovely pool with open view of the water. Staff is good and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Special place close to the beach

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: Clean and close to the ocean. Nice grounds. Maid staff very helpful when needed otherwise left us alone. They have a fleet of free bicycles to use.
Cons: Bicycles are owned and maintained by rental company. Need a lot of TLC
Location: The ocean is a key factor in nearly everything to do on the island. Wildlife areas are great. Wonderful restaurants.
We wanted to stay on West Gulf Drive and found this hotel. For our family it was perfect. Very close to the beach, could watch sunset from our balcony if you wished to do so. Room was clean and comfortable. Kids loved the pool and the ocean spending more than six hours in the water each day, mostly in the ocean. Shelling was wonderful. Other things offered on Sanibel make it a perfect family vacation area. Will stay here again.

Nice hotel right on the beach

Posted Jul 4, 2014
Nice hotel for couples or families. Beautiful huge swimming pool with 2 barb-b-ques to use, Tennis Courts & shuffle board. Right on the beach with free lounge chair & umbrellas. Kitchen in your room with small refrigerator, toaster, microwave & coffee maker handy. Nice Continental breakfast with fruit, cereals, granola bars, juice & coffee. Free Newspaper. Free bicycles. You save a lot of money with all these freebies & all you really need to bring is a cooler with drinks, snacks, pool raft or ocean floating tubes. We did look for shells & found beautiful ones..plenty just washed up on the beach for everyone...Great food nearby at Doc Ford's & the Crows Nest at Tween Waters Inn. We absolutey recommend this hotel & will stay there again in the future. Nice relaxing time.
