Nice Inn and close to the beach and stores.

Posted May 20, 2015
Pros: It is very well situated right on the beach, has an excellent swimming pool with bicycles and beach equipment you can use. It is close to the stores.
Cons: The room, although comfortable, was tired and needs cooking facilities and bathroom to be upgraded.
Location: The location is good and it is a short drive to all the stores and restaurants. If you like cycling, beach and walking, this location is for you.
We enjoyed our stay but we're disappointed with the room and "breakfast".

Good place to go on a budget

Posted May 13, 2015
Pros: Right on the beach, nice pool, clean room, friendly staff, good location on the island
Cons: Keep the bikes in good condition, it is a main mode of transportation. Add a cafe or bar, food available on site. More beach chairs for guests.
Location: Close to the main road to shop, eat. Good spot to bike around. Plenty of restaurants within a short drive. Easy to get around Sanibel and Captiva
Less expensive than many places, so if you're on a tight vacation budget and staying only a short time, this is a good place. It is clean, right on the beach, nice pool. Staff was nice enough. Just don't expect amenities: bikes were in terrible condition, "breakfast" was inedible, no restaurant or bar on premises. Not enough chairs available on the beach.

This is a very friendly and relaxed hotel, the staff are great and nothing is too much trouble for them. All the amenities on the site are free, including canoes, bicycles, beach towels ect. We would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again.

Perfect location for enjoying Sanibel Island

Posted Apr 4, 2015
Pros: Location! quiet, pretty beach away from the crowds but within biking & driving distance to lots of fun things. Comfortable, clean beds.
Cons: Fixtures/appliances/rug
Location: So much to do! Tarpon Bay kayak & boat tours! Biking through Ding Darling Preserve & on the Bailey tract. Bowmans Beach (go early). Lots more!
This was a great room for my two kids and I. It is not luxurious & you won't be pampered, so if you are expecting luxury, this one's not for you. But for us, it was perfect. The beds and bedding were new, very clean and comfortable, the room was clean, and the location was perfect. It's right on the Gulf of Mexico on it's own little beach. It is in a quiet part of town, very close to the JN Ding Darling preserve, which we loved! The bike paths were amazing & there were bikes we could use for free. No, they were not new or pretty, but they worked just fine, and my kids and I had a great time exploring. We saw a bobcat on one of our rides! It was also a quick, effortless drive to the other beaches on the island, and to Captiva, as well.

Decent hotel right on the beach

Posted Mar 12, 2015
Pros: Location and the casual atmosphere. This is not a pretentious atmosphere like some Sanibel hotels.
Cons: Rooms are too damp. Furniture is dated.
I have stayed at this hotel a few times. Overall, it's expensive. You are paying for being able to walk out your door and hit the beach. The rooms are dated. The staff is friendly. What I don't understand is why the rooms (especially carpets) are always so damp. I know it's humid in Florida, but I don't find the same issue at other hotels in Florida. I have stayed there a few times, because it's pretty casual, not pretentious. However, I think I may try somewhere else next time. It's pretty expensive for what you get.

Quaint but very old

Posted Feb 27, 2015
We knew what we were getting into, but sometimes there is a need to update into this century. Xsmall bathroom poorly lit was the biggest problem. Even saw women putting on makeup outside because the room is so dark. For the price, I am not doing it again

Older hotel close to beach

Posted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: I like close proximity to beach, the lounge chairs on beach, continental breakfast, and close parking to room. Also that area is not as crowded.
Cons: Breakfast could be improved.
Location: Shelling, shopping and beach proximities are great!
My only complain was that the carpet? had an unpleasant smell. While not a new hotel, the accommodations are acceptable but not fancy.

Great combination of wildlife and beaches

Posted Feb 13, 2015
Pros: The staff was very nice. They include continental breakfast, bikes and sea kayaks. There is also a $50 resort credit included.
Cons: Our particular room did not have a great view of the ocean.
Location: Great shelling near the lighthouse. Road bikes to Captiva Island. Ate great seafood in several places.
The entire island is clean and relatively free of trash. People pick it up out of respect for the wildlife and nature there.

Booked through expedia

Posted Feb 11, 2015
Because I booked through expedia the front office staff treated us terrible and they gave us a room with a small view in the parking lot. Maids were awesome. If it weren't for Expedia would have never found the place So not sure why the treatment.
