“A Jewel At The Beachfront”
The Carousel Inn is definitely a little jewel on the beachfront at Ft. Meyer's Beach. The location is perfect on the powdery white sandy beach. Next door is the Outrigger's Beachfront Bar with nightly music at sunset. The Carousel Inn is a restored image of old time Florida. The two-storied inn has newly refurbished rooms with a fully equiped small kitchen with all the essentials - cookware, dishes, utensils, refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffeepot. The king-size bed was very comfortable with fresh linens. The bathroom was clean and adequate. A new safe was installed in the room. A grill was available outside for communal use. Two chairs and a small tea table were outside each room. Five lounges were available on the beach for free, but renting the comfortable cabanas with cushions and hoods for $15 a day was certainly worth the price. One of the negatives was the reoccuring mold on the wall inside the kitchen cabinets, and some evidence in the bathroom. The housekeeping staff could also have been more friendly and personable. They did little during the week to clean the room. Given the reasonable rates at the inn, and the recent upgrading of all the rooms and furnishings, the Carousel Inn certainly deserves a chance for a holiday destination.
“Decent Hotel Right on the Beach”
Basic hotel at a good price. Kitchen and supplies to help save money on dining. Right on the beach. Tiny pool. Beach towels for rent for just $1. Be careful if you want to check in late. The office closes at 8 pm. We asked for a late check out because we scheduled a jet ski tour the morning we were to check out and wanted to be able to shower after and the manager was very flexible to accomodate our needs.Trolley stop is just across the street and only .50 one way to the Times Square area.
“Ft Myers Beach Carousel Is BAD”
Do not even consider staying at this hotel until it is completely refurbished. I was told this is scheduled for August 2010. The room was so bad, we received a full refund from the hotel. The room was on the second floor with a view of the beautiful beach and Gulf of Mexico. However, before entering the room, we felt it was a bit seedy. The room was spacious enough and the bath and kitchenette were clean; however, the bath room was very dated -- probably early 60s. The carpet had about a dozen significant pulls and looked so old that the dirt and grime was simply part of it. Like the first room we saw, there was only one bed. But there was a pullout couch. Like the carpet, the dirt and grime seemed to be part of the fabric. We laughed out loud when we opened the couch and the matress fell to the floor. It was so late, we feared we would not find another hotel. So, I placed the back cushions on top of the seating cushions, covered it all with a sheet and went to sleep. I think the place looked like a welfare hotel. My daughter called it a "crack hotel."

Area:
Fort Myers Beach, Florida, United States of America: Decidedly less ritzy than other Florida seaside towns, Fort Myers Beach is a favorite destination for families. Area singles, too, also pass the time here, especially at Lynn Hall Memorial Park and at Time Squares bars, restaurants, and shops. Casino gambling is mostly illegal in Florida; a Fort Myers Beach-based casino cruise flouts this ban by floating just beyond the long arm of the law.
