“Wally & Wilma”
Our room was wonderful--very large and spacious and attractively decorated. It was very comfortable. The bed was a bit high and I could see some folks having trouble getting into it. The hotel was across from beautiful Destin beach and restaurants were close by.
“Can't wait to go back”
Beachside Inn is awesome in its location in Destin. Coming across the Mid-Bay Bridge, its easy to locate, with great excess to everything, including the beach.
“Everything you need for an excellent time”
Primo location maybe 120 yards from the ocean and easy walking distance (about a quarter mile or so) from main Hwy 98. The coffee shop / deli has excellent breakfast and lunch. The restaurant and sushi bar has excellent supper. The walk up bar outside had live music on Friday and Saturday. All foster a kid friendly environment and have wonderful staff. We stayed 3 nights for an extended weekend and our car never moved from the moment we arrived until the day we left. The Beachside Inn had everything we needed. The pool was great too. The room was nice and spacious with a large microwave, coffee maker, mini fridge, big flat screen HD television and DVD player. The bed seemed a bit firm for my liking but as is the case for 90% of the hotel beds I've slept in. Such a great place to stay we might make it a yearly tradition.
“Will plan on going again”
Great location! As close to the beach as possible without being directly on the beach. The surrounding neighborhood is beautiful. I look forward to going back!
“Close to the beach and they allow pets!”
I took my cat with me and saw a couple with a dog. They were very friendly when I called to tell them and we changed to another room based on my needs. This is your basic motel, but it's a great condition and well located across the street from the beach, with an official public passageway and an unofficial vacant lot. Lots of shopping, restaurants, etc. are 3 blocks or so away. Breakfast is included, by means of giving you coupons to have a light breakfast at the cafe associated with the hotel (they also have a restaurant, Camille's, which I didn't eat at). The cafe food was delicious, but if you're a big eater (say you want both coffee and orange juice), you'll want to supplement because basically you get coffee (or milk or juice) and one roll/scone/moffin/cereal/bagel -- pick one. The room was a decent size -- I had twin queen-size beds -- with a large TV (30"?) with cable -- and a small table with a couple of chairs. The "kitchenette" consisted of a tiny microwave and tiny fridge -- but it was good to have them, although I wouldn't plan on cooking there. You also got a coffeemaker with coffee. I thought it was a bit noisy, because of the motel layout -- you'd hear people outside talking, and more faintly, someone's TV. The staff were very friendly.
“Pet Friendly in FL”
One of the few hotels in the area that accepts pets, and it is also in a great location. The only problem was that all the pet rooms were also smoking rooms. The staff did try to freshen our room for us, which helped a little. Our room was also tiled instead of carpeted. Good if you come back wet and sandy, but hard, dirty and cold (or sweaty if you forget to turn on the AC) on your bare feet. Nice bathroom with sitting area in shower. The office is closed in the evenings, although there is a drop box system to check in late--we did have some problems with that. The contact person didn't know how the system worked and we were put on hold for about 10 minutes until someone was available that did. After that, everything went smoothly. I would definitely recommend if you are traveling with a pet and need a hotel.
“Unfortunately Disappointed - Great Location but Some Problems...”
The location of this property was much better than expected - off the main drag but nice area and beach access was great. May be better on an upper floor but we were awakened on morning #1 @ 7am with a sand blower outside our window - sounded like the Space Shuttle was taking off it was so loud - continued for almost 30 minutes until the blower made its way to another hotel. On Day #2 our newly checked in neighbors watched a video with extremely high volume - not much insulation - at midnight they set off the smoke detector with microwave popcorn, then a fight ensued and one of them left in an uproar - not much sleep that night until 3am - luckily they checked out. Morning #3 - the now departed neighbors alarm clock went off @ 6:15 am (maid forgot to turn it off) BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP and no one in the room to turn it off...we checked out early with it still beeping away. Our bad luck with the room next door - management was nice but reacted with disbelief when we told them about the incident. Our room was typical - location great - Deli attached to property was awesome - restaurant was also good but slightly overpriced - parking could be difficult in the evening since the restaurant patrons would take up spaces - one evening we had to drive about a while until someone left to obtain a parking space on the property.
