Nice resort, poor check in experience

Posted Jul 11, 2015
We arrived at 3 PM with two small children and were told we would not be able to get into our room until 4 PM. They said someone would call us to let us know when our room was ready. At 4:15 no one had called so I called them. The room still was not ready and our kids were losing their minds. It took until after 5 PM for us to get into a room. Not acceptable. On a positive note, the property is lovely and close to the beach.

Amazing, there is so much to do, you need at least a week to enjoy everything.

Overcrowded Hotel- Dated

Posted Jul 5, 2015
No cleaning service included with the $50/day resort fee charge. Dated hotel and overcrowded beaches! Not for us!

OK place unless you really just golf

Posted Jun 30, 2015
Pros: Room was clean, area was pretty
Cons: Linkside center bathrooms and the parking under the Grand
Location: Ate at Surf Hut which was quite good. Also went into Destin for Deweys which was really good and worth the drive to the eastern point of Destin.
I was here for a conference and board meeting...so was not my choice. Usually when I have to go to these I usually stay on location for ease of access. Now, my room was pretty nice and clean and I was happy that I chose to stay over by the wharf for that fact because those that stayed over by Linkside conference center didn't say as many nice things. The bad part was parking there was not near enough - in the afternoon you would drive around in circles waiting on someone to leave to grab their place. The shuttle service was slow, so you actually had to drive to get to the conferance on time. You had to drive across the highway to the Beachside property to get to the beach. Golf carts were everywhere and drove on the road at night without lights! When wharf had some good food but most didn't open for dinner until 5pm. Roberto's had a good deal on a slice of pizza ( actually 2 slices) was 6 dollars. But Sushi joint was not that great and was not impressed. the Linkside center was okay for our conference but the bathrooms were in bad shape and really needs to be fixed/updated...broken faucet, one that leaked continually, and the toilet seats were falling off and looked like they were permanently stained. Overall the Grand Studio was clean and nice but expected more for the price and the AC was fair on the hottest day. Would only recommend to those who want to go play golf (the courses looked really nice). Not for those who want the beach unless you stay at beachside

Not an hotel

Posted Jun 28, 2015
Pros: The 3 bedroom suite was awesome, clean and quiet
Cons: This is Not a hotel. Knowing that, if you do not mind not mixing with other vacationer and look for a quiet trip, this is the place.
Location: You are pretty far from Destin, where all the water activities are, and traffic is horrific. It took us over an hour to get to our fishing boat
This is not an hotel but a community. While the condo was awesome, it was far from everything. Our unit was located near the retirement part of the community, in the middle of a neighborhood. The pools are so small and far we did not use it. They have a shuttle service, but it did not come near us. Everyone uses a golf cart but they do not rent them to mere tourist. Basically, if you do not have a car, you are stuck. They give you a free bike rental for 4hours for two people by unit, so if you have more than two persons in your group, you will have to pay. Their main attraction is a center with activities for kids, and restaurants, but without a car it would be too far. Also, while it is nice, nothing is cheap. The beach is a good 5 min of driving. You cannot see it at all from the community. The bay is not a swim area.

Convenience

The location of our condo was perfectly situated on the pool level, and the building was in the same vicinity of all the local attractions.

Hotel was a little dated.

Posted Jun 19, 2015
Pros: Pool
Cons: The staff were not very informed. I also think someone should be on hand at all times.
Location: The village was nice and the beach was great
We stayed four nights at Bayside. We took our seven year old Granddaughter. She really enjoyed the pool, it was large and we had plenty of room to move about without bumping into others. The hotel could use an update but was clean. I didn't realize how far apart everything was. It was too far to walk to the beach , marina or village. The trams were always full and didn't seem to keep a dependable schedule. It was also very noisy. If I return I would stay on the beachside which was lovely.
