Nice hotel clise to the beach

Posted Jul 19, 2014
This was our 2nd stay on this property but last year it was a Holiday Inn. All of our favorite bar/restaurant staff were still there and they were great. The hotel is very clean - impressive considering sandy people come and go all day. It's about a mile from most of the action - we prefer it that way. The free city shuttle stops outside the hotel on weekdays. We love that there are 2 pools - one was usually mellow and the other alive with families and activities. The 2 beach chairs and umbrella are a nice amenity - just bring your own beach towels since the hotel doesn't want sand in their room or pool towels. People who complain about the price/quality ratio need to consider that it is ON the beach and the price is on par with-if not cheaper than- the other Emerald Coast beach front hotels. The elevator was a little strange. When you hit the down button it would stop and take you to the top floor then would go straight down without stops.

Worth the stay!

Pros: Something to do for everyone.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Many places to eat not too far from the hotel. All water activities available.
Wyndham Garden was a great hotel and had many amenities. It offered activities throughout the day for our children that they enjoyed. You got two free beach chairs and umbrella for your entire stay. We had a great view of the ocean and there is an onsite restaurant, so you really never have to leave. Awesome hotel!!

Pros: We had a balcony where we could sit and look out at the Gulf. It was great being so close to the beautiful, white sand beach.
Cons: Coffee was not "coffee shop" quality.
Location: Lots of good restaurants in the area with well prepared seafood.
We wanted a relaxing three days near the beach. The Wyndham was right on the beach and provided all the amenities we needed. We ate two meals in the restaurant, and they were both good. It was convenient to take walks on the beautiful beach, and it was not too crowded. The sand was powder fine and lovely to walk on. An umbrella and two chairs were provided. The waves were strong enough to have fun "playing" in without being dangerous. There was fine green algae in the water but not enough to be gross.

Left much to be desired.

Pros: Great beach access, chairs and umbrellas for guests.
Cons: Rooms.
This was my first trip to Florida. I looked at all kind of hotels to stay at and given the holiday weekend prices, this seemed to be a better deal than some of the others. Now I see why. The pictures of the rooms are not as they are in reality. The sink for the bathroom is in the entrance area and the tub was stained and dirty. The room smelled foul and the freezer of the fridge was rusted. When we arrived on July 3rd, we were told we would not be able to check into our room for at least an hour because a pipe had burst. The positive about this hotel is the location-great access to the beach, good pool. The little bar outside was not great. The food was not good at all and a bit overpriced. For $250 a night, it wasn't worth it. I wouldn't stay here again.

Wyndham wynner!!!

Pros: Very kid friendly with various activities for the kiddos. Staff was very helpful with information on eateries, maid service was very friendly.
Cons: Maybe newer carpet. The room smelled a little musky when we first arrived.
Location: Beach @ hotel had tons of green cotton-fiber like seaweed! Hope this is not the case all of the time. We visited Henderson State Park...was perfect!
Direct access to the beach and great pool. Staff is super friendly. Offers free DVD rentals!!! Short drive to Destin. Close to a Publix supermarket.
