“A home away from home”

I had stayed in this hotel previously when it was owned by a chain and was glad to know that it was still in operation under different ownership. I especially like the "apartment like feel" of the place with a full working kitchen. It even had a working fireplace with special logs offered for a modest price at the office. The staff was extremely helpful and eager to please. My first room had an odor of smoke even though the hotel is now completely smoke free (I expect this had not been the case under previous ownership) but when I called to mention this (hoping at best to de-odorize it), the office sent someone with keys for another room within 5 minutes. A couple of days later, guests staying above me were extremely rowdy and after a couple of hours, I finally called the office to report this. The person on call said it would be taken care of and within 15 minutes the thumping and crashing stopped (I had this same experience in a different, more expensive hotel with no satisfaction at all even after several complaints!) With the kitchen facilities, it is not necessary to go out for a meal; however the hotel also offers breakfast every morning and a snack type dinner four nights a week which is nice if you don't feel like driving out to a restaurant at the end of the day. I would recommend this hotel even if the price hadn't been so reasonable.

Area recommendations

I am partial to the north end of town where the hotel is located as well as the downtown area. This is partly because I grew up in the northern section but also because it is a short drive to downtown (with a major genealogical library and an art museum), is near the War Memorial Coliseum, Johnny Appleseed Park, Indiana University (IUPUFW), Lakeside Park, shopping malls, and the expressway.

“Great value for the price”

The front desk was very nice. The room was clean. We did use the bed and sofa sleeper. They both were very comfortable. Even though we didn't use, it was nice to have a kitchen. I would recommend as a place to stay.

Not sure. This was my first time there but where we stayed was nice. Close to some strip malls and alot of restaurants that we passed.

“Excellent hotel”
