Needed a quiet place to recoup from USA jet lag. Arrived mid morning and was nicely received but room was not ready. Left luggage and went for walk to center of Dumfernline--10 minute walk. Village is friendly and village town hall/library/cafe/information was very helpful. Returned early afternoon to find room ready with lovely beds and fresh covers in a big old fashioned, converted drawing room. Bath and water closet down the hall were clean and working. One was given choices for breakfast the night b4 and breakfast was very good.
Taxi was about $45 but train and bus connections from the airport take one to within 1 1/2 blocks--had not researched as I knew I would need taxi with golf clubs.

A gem of a find, and very pet friendly for our little Cavalier, Bartie! Great staff, nice breakfast. well located. Great valuse for money, which for the price actually exceeded expectations. We didnt pay for 5* and we didnt expect 5* but friendly staff and cleanliness when travelling is key. A huge thanks to Boreland Lodge and wouldnt hesitate in using again when in and around Edinburgh.

A fabulous two day stay with my wife. The hotel was everything we hoped it would be, remote but close enough to local amenities to reach Edinburgh and surrounding attractions. Staff were excellent through out.

We arrived a little early, but we were able to go straight to our room. The receptionist was extremely welcoming and very helpful. The evening meal which we had in the bar was excellent, and very generous portions. The breakfast was also plentiful.
