We were upgraded to a wonderful suite. I fell quite ill with a virus and all the hotel staff were wonderful. We had to stay 2 more days and although I couldn't enjoy our visit the staff were very kind and thoughtful...especially kitchen staff who went out of his way to make me remedy tea and soup broth.

"Beautiful View, Amazing Staff, Loved the Hotspring"
We had a lovely stay here. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. We also had a little patio space available outside our room which overlooked a beautiful garden. The hotel grounds are beautiful beyond words. The hotel staff goes above and beyond to help you out. The pool area is lovely with a swim up bar, kiddie pool area, kids play area with slides and mud pit, jacuzzi and hot springs. Our room included breakfast buffet which was a very good spread that consisted of gallopinto (rice and beans), pancakes, plantains, toast, potatoes, eggs, meat, coffee, tea, juices etc. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely come back.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We found the grounds, buildings, and our room to be very well maintained. The staff was very helpful and most spoke English. The rooms are spread out across a large piece of property, which gives it more of an all-inclusive resort feel instead of the intimate jungle cottage feel that we were initially looking for. Each room and main dining building provide direct views of the Arenal Volcano. Unfortunately, the volcano was covered by clouds most our stay so we weren't able to enjoy the views. Their prices for drinks and food was high by Costa Rican standards but acceptable for a nice tourist establishment.

"Good place, but some improvements needs to be done"
Nice place, when we first arrived it was around 1130 pm. Staff seems a little reserved, not as welcoming as other places, but they were nice and willing to help. Lighting around the resort was ok, a little more light would help when walking at night. There was a light to our room that was always out and hard to see, so I used my cell phone light so I can see where I was going or if there was anything in my path. Some insects would get in because the screens need to be replaced. Nice place, but needs some up keep. We reserved 2 premium suites, but they upgraded us to the master without asking or letting us know. Bathrooms do not look like they do in the pics, waterfall shower didnt work properly, regular shower took forever to get hot water. Room itself was good, A/C worked great, thermal pool was nice to relax in after all the hiking/zip lining.

Everything was beautiful and relaxing. The only complaint I have is the lack of energy in the staff (restaurant &front desk) I would have a better stay if the staffs was more friendly and enthusiastic. It feel like a sleepy hotel with no live in it.

La Fortuna is the main gateway for exploring the Arenal Volcano National Park and surrounding area. Once a sleepy little town, it is now firmly on the tourist trail but still retains some of its old charm. The prevalence of touts and tour operators makes it a useful base for organizing treks, canopy tours, rafting or any number of other activities in the region.
