The next level

Posted Jul 2, 2014
From staff to facilities to surroundings, this place is on another level. Can not recommend it highly enough. The only thing missing is hot tub. It's expensive but something you should do at least once in your life.

Perfect place to pop the question

Posted May 29, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location. Plus it is pretty fancy and not too overpriced (although it's a little bit on the expensive side).
Cons: The bed was a little hard, but that's just my personal preference.
Location: Ask your significant other to marry you. You have an amazing backdrop! Then afterwards go to the bird sanctuary just outside the entrance to the park.
This is the only hotel inside the Iguassu National Park on the Brazilian side, which means that only hotel guests get to see the falls after park hours close. It's an amazingly built, comfortable hotel with views straight to the falls and 30 second walks across the front lawn to pick up the trails. The hotel itself has amazing staff, everyone speaks wonderful English, and they even keep a wood-burning fireplace going all day long in a cozy room for you to read, drink, chat with your friends, etc. It was also really fun to walk the trails early in the morning and see all the wildlife, including a cute family of monkeys!

The best place to view the falls

Posted May 27, 2014
The hotel is ideally situated. Being inside the national park allows you to view the falls at sunrise and sunset, before the park opens to others. It is a luxury hotel in every sense of the word. You can tell that the hotel has been there a while; certain spots could use some reburbishment. But that's a minor critique. Overall, well worth the expense.

Hotel Cataratas - Iguacu National Park.

Posted May 7, 2014
Pros: Hotel staff very professional and attentive. Lots of assistance even when busy.
Cons: Only a brief orientation was given upon arrival. It would have been nice to know a bit more of was available via a daily newsletter or upon arrival.
Location: Bird Aviary at entrance to park just a short walk -only accept cash. Credit card use is limited - especially taxis.
Excellent hotel. It was expensive, but a wonderful place. The food was very good. Excellent breakfast buffet with made to order omelets and champagne. Dinner buffet was pricey but lots of variety. Taxi to hotel was higher priced than return taxi from hotel. Taxi ordered at airport at taxi stand so it is perfectly safe and quick. Would definitely stay again - absolutely great experience.

Nice but not quite - 3 star room in a 5 star hotel

Posted Apr 21, 2014
Pros: Location, Location, Location!
Cons: "Superior" rooms that look out on a parking garage and generator and no bathtub should not be labeled as "Superior".
Location: Perfect next to falls but otherwise very isolated - at least 15 minutes to the main gate each way.
This is a hard review to write. The hotel is certainily very nice and the location can not be beat, but certain things are a bit off. Pros: Amazing location next to falls with 24/7 access - when park was closed - I was the only one at the falls - literally and with a full hotel. Cons: While the hotel is 5 star category - the rooms are not. I booked a "Superior" room with two twin beds. The room is very small and there was only less than a 6" gap between beds - in other words the room is tiny. For a "Superior" room - it looked out on a parking lot and a generator which hummed during the night (see pic). The hotel was full (Easter weekend) but for a $500 a night room, one would expect more than a view of a generator and a parking lot (or not charge as much). Also the "Superior" room only had a shower (broken drain), not a bathtub. Granted it was late at night (after 9pm) - requested a transformer. After it didn't arrive put "Do not Disturb" sign on door. 15 minutes later Room Service called to say they couldn't knock because of the sign - Say What? The hotel is very isolated and food choices are minimal. I'm glad I stayed but even given all of the factors - Easter weekend and closeness to the falls - it definitely isn't "value for the money". If you are expecting an absolutely amazing room experience - this hotel will disappoint you. If you can overlook that you are paying $500 per night for a 3 star room in a 5 star hotel - then this is a great option.

Surprise! The Hotel became an Attraction

Posted Apr 4, 2014
Visited Iguazu Falls after a wedding in Rio. Lots to do, very eco-kind of trip with likes of hikes, boat rides, helicopters, etc. But as our little group of 4 began to explore the Falls, we also fell in love with the hotel, and just liked being there and being pampered... it was a great vacation resort -- not just the only hotel inside the Park (big advantage being that you can walk down to the falls before the throngs of tourists arrive at 9 and leave at 5). GREAT place to stay -- it is pricey, but when you make it part of the overall vacation, and not just a room with a bed, it is WELL worth it.

Superior location, top-notch staff and service!

Posted Mar 31, 2014
By far the best place to stay on the Brazil side of the falls. The public is bused in from 9 am to 5 pm, but outside those hours you avoid all the crowds because as a guest you're already inside the park. Beautiful facilities, all staff supremely cheerful, caring and helpful. Facilities are beautiful, breakfast buffet bountiful, food pretty good. Rooms clean and comfortable but not extravagant -- everything else makes up for that. Recommended. Will plan to return.

Great hotel in the heart of a paradise

Posted Mar 24, 2014
Pros: Location, setting, luxuriousness, very friendly hotel staff, great Churrasco buffet.
Cons: The dining areas feel a little too big and impersonal. The a la carte restaurant could be slightly more impressive (menu and inside dining areas)
Location: Right in the heart of the Iguazu Fall national park. The falls, boat rides, bird park, helicopter rides, rappelling etc are all in the vicinity.
This was one of the accommodation highlights of our 2.5 mth traveling/honeymoon in South America. A lovely hotel that's just been updated and has an old-school luxuriousness about it. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, some with views of the incredible Iguazu Falls. Lovely pool area with lush vegetation surrounding it, perfect for relaxing before and after the reason you're here in the first place - seeing the Falls. To that end, one of the added benefits of staying here (and it's a very good one) is that you are free to walk the trails of the falls after all the visitors have left the national park, allowing you to experience the jaw-dropping views and sounds almost on your own, either early in the morning or at sunset as we did twice. Magical experience that we will never forget.
