“Character hotel in magnificent location”

Comfortable colonial style with friendly and efficient staff. This really is THE place to stay to see the spectacular Iguassu Falls and enjoy the calm of the rainforest. There is a lot to see and do here in addition to admiring the incredible views of the Falls along the trail. I opted for a Deluxe room which was comfortable but rather small, simply furnished and very expensive. As other reviewers have pointed out, eating at the hotel is expensive and whilst the service is excellent, the quality of the food is not value for money. If you only want something light to eat at the end of the day then roomservice is the only option, and choice is very limited. The hotel is isolated far from the town, but there's a selection of food outlets at the bus/canoe station at the end of the Falls trail. There is a main restaurant, a good size fast food restaurant and a cafe serving snacks - only open when the Park is open. It can also be reached with a good 15 minute walk along the main road from the hotel, or just a few minutes ride on the regular buses that run from the Visitor Center at the entrance to the Park. When returning by bus (up a steep hill) you will need to let the driver know you want to get off at the Bus Stop in front of the Hotel. Most guests tend to stay 1 or 2 nights but I stayed 4, enabling me to see and do as much as possible with time for some relaxation by the pool in between. The Travel Agent in the Hotel is excellent for tours/activities though rather expensive.

“Excellent Location”

The hotel is situated in an excellent location. The staff was very corteous and willing to serve guests to the best of their ability. The one downside during our stay was the elevator was not working. I wish also that the beds were more comfortable, but it was not a big issue to me personally. I'd recommend the hotel to anyone travelling to Iguassu.

“Not a 5 star hotel”

The view near the hotel is spectacular but the hotel is not a 5 star hotel as it claims to be and as its price reflects. We received a very noisy room and all our requests to move to another room were ignored. We were promised that the room will be quite at night but it wasn't. Such a room (actually a whole wing like this) should not exist in a 5 star hotel. Additionally, once in the hotel you are practically stuck in its (expensive) restaurant for dinner. Unfortunately the restaurant don't serve suitable food for vegetarians or for kids and is not very friendly when problems arise on such matter.
