Excellent location just outside the Walled city but for a few Euros more would recommend the Hotel across the street. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. Sparse choices that were not replenished. Soft boiled eggs, sliced cheese and cold cuts, bread rolls, jam, cereal and some desserts. It was our understanding that the Breakfast was half of what the grumpy old man insisted it was. It was certainly not worth it. Also upon departure, the lady insisted that the payment had not been made for the second room. I insisted that it had. Neither owner spoke any English. After 10 minutes of discussion she acknowledged that the payment had indeed been made.

Very convenient location to explore Rothenburg
Loved the location right outside one of the main gates of Rothenburg. Great that parking was included, and we could leave the car there till after lunch on day of departure. The actual guesthouse felt authentic and was kept up well.

The hotel was perfectly situated just outside the walled city of Rothenberg and included parking. Our family was able to come and go without the stress of moving our vehicle and paying for parking. The spacious quadruple room was in a loft with charming furnishings and living spaces. The hotel staff were warm and helpful. There were many lovely flowering gardens on the property. Our family chose not to book breakfast for the additional fee so I cannot speak to that experience.

We stayed on the top floor. Very, very large suite. Old traditional feel with wood planked ceilings. Quaint. Fitting with the area. Loved the cleanliness of the place. The floors squeaky clean! Our beds were on either sides of the suite with a seating area in the centre. This hotel is just outside the walls. We loved the area. Good parking on site too.

The location was great. The city gate is very close and it is a short direct walk to the main square. The free onsite parking was wonderful. You can park your car for the duration of your stay and avoid paid parking. The room was comfortable and quiet. We really had little interaction with the staff. The breakfast room was pleasant with a lot of natural light.

Not great....
The condition of the hotel is old... we had 2 rooms. One of it is an attic, so I feel uncomfortable with the sloping roof above my bed and in the bathroom. The other room has half the heater that is not working as the knob on the heater was not in place. As such, it was cold during the night especially when it was snowing and raining. The only good thing was the free and relatively safe parking we had.

Basic, clean, charming hotel just 2 minutes walk to the city walls. Excellent location and has a parking lot! I think it’s better than staying in the walled city

There is no elevator and visitors may be required to carry their transatlantic luggage up three flights. No assistance is available. Restaurant would like to charge for missed reservations, even though that practice is not mentioned nor is a card number taken. Should you miss your reservation, you are called to the office to be bullied i nto a shakedown. The room was quaint but when staff was asked to come back after 10AM to refresh the room, we were told. Nicht spater (Not later) and received no service. Had to request toilet tissue in the lobby.

Great location
The best thing about this place was its location! It was just a few metres from the Gallows Tower entry on the wall and within 5 minutes walk of restaurants etc. We thought the place was over priced given we'd stayed in a Novotel the previous two nights and it was substantially cheaper and of higher quality. Still, when you stay in a guest house full of character, I guess you have to pay for it. We didn't opt for breakfast because we figured €10 each would buy us a while lot more variety downtown. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms warm but we found the heavy duvets too hot for the weather. We got caught in a sudden, very heavy downpour on our way back the first night, and our towels were not changed during our stay - despite being put on the floor. The Gasthof offered free parking and the wifi was excellent. As I said, great location, full of character, a bit over priced, but we enjoyed our stay.

Typical, nice hotel, a little overprized
Very nice, typical hotel for the region. Great location, right outside the city area. The bathroom was large, but it could use an update. The bed covers were way too warm for summer (feather...)... I would stay there again, the only complaint is the price. It was overprized, but I guess this is what you pay in Rothenburg with lots of tourists. Just be aware, it is an older house and there is no elevator. If you are on the second or third floor you have to carry your suitcase over a pretty narrow, wooden staircase.
