“A Great Pit Stop Before Flying Home”
After two weeks of "quaint" European hotels where most do not have air conditioning, and where you leave windows open for air, I find myself enjoying absolute quiet, black-out drapes and curling under the blanket in 20C. No bugs, no street noise, no daylight at 4AM. Two things I wished they had -- an ice machine and a coffee/tea maker. Let's face it, no one stays at an airport hotel for the shopping or food. A coffee maker adds to the convenience of having to dash off to an early (or late night) flight. So when I received the jug of hot water I asked for at my door (for my usual evening tea), I didn't appreciate the guy's wide-eyed, self-promoting remark: "We don't usually give hot water service. Only for you." Yikes! Anyway, had my tea and a good night's sleep. Life is good.
