“Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof - very impressed”

Although the hotel itself was very nice, it was the staff that made the experience as pleasant as it was (and the reason for my high rating). The staff at both the hotel proper and Oscar's restaurant were phenomenal - they are the reason I will deliberately go back not only to their hotel, but to Frankfurt itself! *My ratings explained: I rated "Condition or maintenance of the hotel" a 4 only because there was a burnt out lightbulb in the bathroom. I rated "Surrounding neighborhood" a 4 because there is a very nice plaza with a large fountain across from the hotel, but the fountain was being worked on - the view was of scaffolding and tarps (once the maintenance/repair of the fountain is complete, I would rate this category a 5).

“Nice Hotel!”

The hotel is very nice and cedntrally located in Frankfurt. It was comfortable and clean and the staff was very helpful, especially with my very limited German!

“Quality Hotel but at a price”

Beautiful old style hotel centrally located for seeing the sights and beside an underground station. Staff were wonderful and willing to help any way they could. Prices for food, wine etc were very high and not worth the money (approx £30 per person for breakfast). TV in the room only allowed you to watch news programmes from all over the world, after a heavy days sightseeing it would have been nice to chill out with a film or some light tv programme. Grand Piano in the main lounge but no one to play it and lighten the blow of a £13 glass of wine (house red). Nice experience but I am sure there are other hotels with the same style at a less price.

“Rather good for the price”

The hotel is located conveniently close to the train station. The surrounding area is not family-friendly: red lights district is too close.

“Nice experience”

What I mostly liked in this hotel was the staff at the front desk, including the concierge, very cheerful and helpful. I also liked the room service. The hotel had the comfort of a 5 stars hotel, except that the decoration was too old, old TV set, no relevant channels like "euronews"...

“Service and Location Fantastic; Rooms a Bit Faded”

I read somewhere before booking that this hotel was a "faded gem" and I think that's about right for the rooms. The rooms are outfitted with the height of technological advances ... in 1965. But outside of the technology, the rooms are clean, very large, and comfortable. Downstairs it's a different story - they have renovated dining areas and lobby areas which are much more "refined antique gem" rather than "faded gem". The service is phenomenal and the location can't be beat for walking around the old town.

“very good location”

we asked for a non smoking room, ended up on a smoking floor! we could smell cigarette from the adjoining room. had to change, the room was a bit small.view was not great. we also asked for a queen size bed,we had 2 twin beds next to each other, very uncomfortable, we tried to explain a few times what we needed but fell on deaf ear. the japanese restaurant in the hotel was the best ! as well as a indian restaurant named Taj a few blocks away.

“Check the drains in the room first.”

We decided to upgrade to a deluxe double at only 20 euros more per night (up from the 'superior' double offered by Expedia which is really a small standard room). The room was lovely but the bathroom drains smelled. When we complained the housekeeper came and sprayed everywhere. We went out ot eat and when we returned the smell was still there. We complained again and the duty manager decided to upgrade us to a Junior Suite for our 2-night stay. No drain smell, very large room and gorgeous bathroom with separate walk-in shower plus separate bath and shower. No complimentary bottles of water though. The bottles left in our room had a price tag of 7 euros (we bought water outside for 2 euros).

“Nice place”

This hotel is beautiful. Its old and elegant and the service is superb. I have one major gripe with this hotel and thats the internet. For a 5 star hotel that would cater for many business people i was shocked to find that they charged you ridiculous prices to use the internet. I stayed all over Europe on this trip and every hotel except for this one the WIFI was free and they were a less star rated hotel.
