“Great Hotel Near the Train Station”
When looking at Expedia.com reviews prior to selecting this hotel, there was the usual mixture of opinions. Thankfully, my experience landed on the side of the positive ones! The hotel is easily found a short 2 blocks from the main train station. Yes, the neighborhood has plentiful erotic shops, but that is "typical" for the area surrounding the main train station in most large German towns. And if you do not go into any of the shops, then no problem! Plus, I was not approached by anyone during my walk to the hotel. The breakfast buffet had a good selection, with both cold and hot choices. Room decor was updated and modern. Hotel staff were great. Can easily walk from the hotel to the Old Town in about 15 minutes (out the hotel front door, go either left or right, and then a straight shot down either street...away from the main train station!).
“Frankfurt experience”
Hotel staff were very good and able to meet all requirements. Positive attitude.
“Neighborhood gem”
The hotel is conveniently located not far from the Frankfurt train station. My room was clean and comfortable, albeit on the small side compared to a US hotel. The decor was modern and in great shape. I had a street-facing room, so there was some noise from outside, but nothing that earplugs couldn't handle. The included buffet breakfast was mostly cold items, but the selection was excellent and it left me prepared to take on the rest of the day! Despite the location about a block from the red light district, I'd definitely go back to the Victoria Hotel given the good price I paid, the convenient location, and the pleasant rooms. I had considered staying directly opposite the train station, but I'm glad I didn't -- traffic there would have made that a much noisier proposition.
“Victoria Hotel”
Excellent hotel.Very friendly English speaking staff.Superb breakfast. Will certainly use again.
“good value, convenient location”
This hotel was overall comfortable and pleasant. The staff was helpful, the breakfast included was good (I did not sample the warm food), the mini bar option was nice, and internet access downstairs was easy (wifi upstairs not free). The hotel is very well located for tourist activities and the metro is closeby. There is an inexpensive bakery across the street and a few restaurants in the area (would not recommend the tapas place). The room had two different noises that we heard periodically. The heater and the dehumidifier in the bathroom were the sources of these sounds as far as we could tell. The heater sound could be stopped by lowering the fan speed (and overall the room was very pleasantly warm upon our arrival and throughout our stay - the temperature and fan speed could be easily adjusted), and it was not very loud, but enough to disturb a light sleeper. The dehumidifier seemed to have an unchangeable automatic setting and would run for 20 minutes or so after the bathroom light had been put on. For me this was not a big deal, but my companion is a light sleeper and was a little bothered by the sounds -- not too badly. I would use this hotel again.
“I will use this hotel again.”
Small but nice and quiet room. Great breakfast buffet.
“Great location - close to everything”
I stayed here for three nights and the service was great. I loved the breakfast. The location was great too - close to downtown and everything. The room was small but clean - I paid for a double bed room for one person, but got two small beds (different from our US hotels!!!). The bathroom was very small but nice and clean. Overall, it was a good hotel for the price I paid.
“Nice place but be careful outside”
This hotel was clean and had everything I needed although the room was a bit small. That's not unusual for Europe though. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Only 3 blocks from the river. If you go out in the main street during late night or early morning you will see lots of dirtbags smoking and selling crack. They don't even try to hide it. Not that they bother you but it's a pretty sad site and not so good for kids.
“Convenient for short stay”
This hotel is 2 blocks from the train station and within walking distance of many attractions and shopping areas. It is also across/down the street/around the corner from several sex shops, erotic dance venues, possibly brothels -- I didn't check. It is a typically German hotel, a little more spartan than Americans are used to. My single room had the usual built-in smaller than twin size bed found in even luxury hotels. The bathroom had a shower only, no tub. The staff was very nice and spoke English well. Internet access was via one computer next to the bar with a keyboard that required great physical strength to use.
