What is a Ranch and Resort?

Posted Feb 11, 2015
Pros: Not much.
Cons: Update the property, dust the displays, would be fun to have more information about the displays, did the saddles belong to anyone famous?
Location: Hmmm, didn't find much to do. Checked out areas that were recommended and not impressed.
I really don't call a hotel a "ranch" when it sits at the intersection of two major roads and where was that resort? There are no elevators for this 2 story property, and of course no help with luggage. The property is extremely dated! The staff we encountered were professional and attentive. Everything was dingy. We had booked a 2 night stay and checked out after the first night. I wouldn't have sat on the chair that was in the room, it was filthy!

The hotel is aging and while it is still very nice it does need updating, bathrooms and chairs mainly. We had a barcolounger that needed replacing and two dining type chairs that were very uncomfortable unless you are one of the few that like a verrrry STRAIGHT back chair, I do not. I loved that our room opened up to a grassed amphitheater. We have a pet, which I was so glad they allowed, and we could easily take her in that area to walk and do her business. Our bed was very comfortable. I think they do need to add microwaves to the rooms. They take very good care of the grounds.

Location: Every B&B in Fredericksburg was sold out on a Saturday night so we opted to try Y O Ranch for something different... great staff and an fun bar.

Charming hotel with character

Posted Jan 3, 2015
We ended up at the Y O on New Year's Eve by happenstance. The staff was so friendly and extremely accommodating. The food was not so stellar but the charm of the lobby (still decorated for Christmas) totally made up for it. Our 4- and 6-year-old thought it was an "awesome" place. My husband and I thought it was overall a great experience.

Overall very satisfied

The staff was very friendly from the time we arrived, until we checked out. That's included the desk personnel, restaurant staff, and gift shop attendant. The room was nice and bed was very comfortable. We had a great view from the patio. Overall, we were very satisfied and will be staying here again in the near future. :-)

Great Texas Charm!

We really enjoyed our stay at the YO! Room was very easy to get in and out of, hall door as well as an door opening onto a small porch made parking lot access a breeze. Great bed, and a fully reclining easy chair made relaxing in front of the large tv most enjoyable. A short walk to the pool/hot tub area, restaurant, and ranch style lounge with great drink specials and entertaining bartender made it feel like a real getaway vacation. Lobby was decorated to the nines for the holidays, and ALL the employees were very professional and strived to accommodate our every wish. We give the YO a big ten points!

Cons: Beds too hard.
Nice closes to the lobby. Dinner was good. Beds were too hard and no elevators.
