“Secluded beach, wierd trasportation, untreated flies in the restautant, wild mosquitos”
Secluded beach, wierd trasportation arrangements, untreated flies in the restautant, wild mosquitos, no hammocks and waiters on the beach (but your own trip to the beach bar) as posted on their website
“Very relaxing, quiet vacation”
If you are looking for peach and quiet, this is the place. We enjoyed it...just what we were looking for. If you want shopping and nightlife, this is not the place to go.
“Perfect relaxing getaway”
This was a repeat trip to OBB and it was just as great as before. This place is so relaxing, with friendly staff and overflowing with amazing sea life just off the shore. There is no nickel and diming for kayaks, snorkel gear or hobies - you just walk up and borrow them whenever you want. The fishing is awesome - you can catch baracuda, jacks, snapper all just by walking out your door. The bonefish guide was great too, we had a great day out and had luck there too. The rooms are beautiful and well-appointed - great bathroom too. Recommend stopping at a grocery on the way into the resort from the airport to pick up snacks etc. as there is a mini-kitchen in the room and we made use of it. The beach wasn't as cleaned up as it had been in the past which was disappointing, but I think it was because we were there just as the season was starting again. Still a beautiful beach though. The conch fritters are the best! I was disappointed that Aqua (fine dining) closed, but Bonefish Foley's and the Straw Bar provided great meals none-the-less. If we were there more than 4 nights, I would have wanted to head into Freeport for dinner as there really aren't other options nearby. I will say this is not a place for those who desire lots of options night life - there are plenty of other places in the Bahamas for that - this is for those looking to unwind and relax! For us, this place is just right.
“Wonderful Vacation at Old Bahama Bay”
The family spent five days at Old Bahama Bay and we had a wonderful experience. The staff exceeded our expectations and the resort is absolutely beautiful. The area is very secluded, but it was exactly what we were looking for to have a stress-free vacation with no crowds. We had an oceanfront room and we were only 15 paces from the sandy beach. The kitchenette was helpful when it came to quick meals (stop at the local supermarket on your way to the hotel) and the restaurants at the resort offered good food. I would definitely recommend this resort to couples or families!
“Scenic but very remote from everything. Not much for kids to do.”
Lovely setting, very remote, no free shuttle service to & from hotel. Room very nice but floor dirty. Severe cold snap in Bahamas. Called to complain about cold room (60-degrees) when told they didn't have any heat because "it is never that cold".. Desk sent blankets; slept in clothes. Front desk closed after nine pm. Checked out next day. Contacted Expedia on return home. Hotel contacted about complaint. They did refund the money paid for my two remaining days which covered the cost of my other hotel, Our Lucaya, which DID HAVE HEAT. It was so cold my son (20) never entered the water. Thank you Old Bahama Bay Hotel for understanding my situation.
“Exactly what we hoped for!”
My wife and I chose Old Bahama Bay for our Honeymoon and we are SO glad we did!! This was the perfect honeymoon getaway for us. We wanted to get away and stay away from the big resorts and Old Bahama Bay was the perfect fit. The rooms are just like the photos on the website and were very clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed the secluded beach. The food was great and we liked watching the boats/yachts come in to the marina. We would highly recommend Old Bahama Bay to anyone and we can't wait to go back!
“The hotel was beautiful, but watch the mosquitos!!!”
This hotel is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!However; it is a bit far from the airport. You MUST rent a car and purchase groceries because the resort food in quite expensive...
“Loved It”
One of the most relaxing vacations ever. Lose track of what day it is. Kids had a blast too.
“Loved it”
Had a relaxing time, which is what I paid for. The hotel and staff are really great. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The hotel is on the extreme far west end of the island so be prepared to be isolated from other choices to eat and drink away from the property. The food is good but choices are limited. As for rides to/ from the airport, the hotel will arrange that for you if you notify them prior to your arrival for free. It was the perfect week. I would go back for sure.
“Nice for Snorkeling, not for food or excitement”
I did a lot of research before coming to Old Bahama Bay, so I kind of knew what to expect. The surrounding area of the West End is a pretty poor area, a lot of construction and not much else. The food at Old Bahama Bay is really bad as well as expensive. The Straw Bar isn't good, neither is Bonefish Folley's. There wasn't really any fresh fish, and all of the items on the menu were bland American fare (chicken strips, burgers, beef minestrone?!) We managed to get a few groceries before going to the resort, but it wasn't enough, so we biked into town to get groceries. The good thing was the beach. The water is gorgeous, and manta rays and all sorts of fish swim right around you. Unfortunately once dusk sets in there's not much to do but go to your room and wait until morning. The service and locals were pretty nice, and it's surprisingly safe (compared to New York.) If you have big bucks and yachts this is the place for you. If you are looking to have tasty food and fun, maybe you'll want to look elsewhere.
