"Wonderful place to stay."
I cannot say enough about the Place d'Armes Hotel in New Orleans on St. Anne St. It was quaint, loved the courtyard, balcony and the preserved look of it. The hotel room was clean and plenty of room. The beds were very very comfortable. The breakfast was very simple but enough to get us through until lunch. It was also very quiet being so close to the festivities of Bourbon Street. It was right in the heart of the French Quarter and right next to Jackson Square and St. Louis Cathedral. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

"An unexpected treasure at an affordable price"
We booked a stay over the Halloween weekend, and I was happy to see a place so close to Jackson Square, a few short blocks from both the French Market and Bourbon Street. The place is beautiful, with two swimming pools, four courtyards that we counted/stumbled upon, fountains, parking (we flew), and very comfortable guest rooms. We had booked a queen bed - and this bed had to be at least a king! The amenities were standard, and consistent. Plenty of towels, very good maid service. The hotel bar, The Ice Bar, is small but hosts impressive and professional bartenders. This is NOT a place to get your drunk on (despite having good prices and a happy hour). It's an old-school bar, and in my dozen or so travels to New Orleans, I have had exactly TWO superlative Sazeracs in New Orleans; The Carousel Bar in the Hotel Monteleone and here. In addition, the bartender took time to research a men's clothing store open past seven PM for me (not an easy task in the Quarter). I appreciate that level of helpfulness, and the quiet bar was a nice place to mellow out before braving the crowds. The front desk staff was efficient, yet oddly brusque. Maybe a bit jaded from dealing with people who took advantage or didn't appreciate the hotel's grown-up nature? Dunno, but it was the one odd spot in my experience. At best, they were friendly enough, and never exactly rude. We would certainly stay there again, though. Quiet location, good price, great bar.

"Great location...quiet yet in the middle of it all"
Great location allows you to explore French Quarters, jump on street cars, or catch a cab to anywhere you want to go. Our view was horrible (corner room facing wall and roof) but candidly we spent only the dark hours in our room (1 AM - 8 AM) and it was far enough from Bourbon (1 block) to be nice and quiet. Room was very nice, clean. Bathroom was bigger than the reviews I read. Great place! I will back!

"the staff and accommodations were amazing"
We enjoyed the stay a lot! the staff was terrific. The bar was a blast! The entertainment was awesome. I will say, it was quite pricey and something I wouldn't do regularly. However, for this weekend and it's festivities, it was worth it!
