Beautiful hotel BUT bad experience

This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed in. Nice building, friendly staff, beautiful fountain. The view is really nice. The beds are awesome. BUT, the main reason why people go to hotel is to sleep. And here's my major and only concern. I was put in the 8th floor, nice view, no complaints. The next morning at around 8ish AM somebody started doing some construction on the roof and the drilling lasted a good THREE HOURS. With a baby and an 8 year old plus my wife and me who needed the rest, a nice pleasant stay turned into a nightmare!! They should be more considerate of their guests. That was such a stupid decision to make: let's wake everyone up on a weekend when everyone is tired!!

No cold water from faucet

Run down, dirty and outdated decor pretty much sums it up. Just needed a place to stay the night en route to Yosemite so it did the job. Miraculously the sink faucet only had hot water! Been to a number of shady hotels before but that was a first. Would not stay there again (unless room rate was $30).

Needs some attention

Worked well for our needs. Room was fresh and clean, but could use some maintenance. Appears that the hotel is undergoing some renovation, which is needed. Just hadn't gotten to our room yet.

The hotel is under renovation so I expected some issue. Our room had a constant noise in the ceiling, a pipe issue I believe. It was 24/7, very annoying, hotel was full so we could not be moved. Personnel we very nice thou.

Good stay

Hotel was nice, enjoyed the stay. Rooms were clean, service and employees were great. The cable didn't work in my room and the internet was pretty slow.

Very nice hotel accommodations

Pros: Our great grandsons were impressed with the grandeur of this hotel. We had been staying in hotels in the wilderness areas (National Parks).
Cons: A microwave and a small refrigerator in each room would be a nice touch. More electrical outlets for charging electronic/digital devices.
Location: We really did not take advantage of things to do in Fresno as we were headed out to visit Smokey the Bear, i.e., nearby National Parks.
The only disappointment with this hotel was that there was not shuttle service from the Fresno airport to the hotel after 10:00 p.m.; our plane arrived at the airport after 10:00 p.m.. The hotel is located in downtown Fresno about 8 miles from the airport. When I called hotel about the lack of shuttle service, the desk clerk called a local taxi service and made arrangements for us to be picked up at the airport; however we were responsible for the cost of the taxi fare and gratuity. The rooms are exceptionally nice and the hotel restaurant was very adequate in the menu selections. The restaurant was available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The bar in the lobby was a nice touch.

Great Service, Costly Bar and Dining, Bad Location

Friendly and helpful staff, $7.50 for a beer at the bar and $20+ breakfast for one, not near any of the shopping or restaurant areas such as Tower District or River Walk.
