We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Murten with our family. We really appreciated the convenient location, close to the lake and the village. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The room is large and comfortable, although it could use some update in the furniture. Also tv was not working during our stay. The restaurant is good and has a large choice, but unfortunately it was closed both Sunday and Monday. All in all, we recommend this property and we thank the staff for welcoming us!

Quality, affordable and friendly
The Murten Hotel is one which I have stayed on a number of occasions and will do so in the future. The staff are always friendly and helpful and you start the day with an excellent breakfast.

An excellent hotel with outstanding staff
An excellent hotel with very friendly and helpful staff and the breakfast was very good, my only issue was that there was no facilities to make a cup of tea or coffee in the room. I had to get a coffee from the restaurant when I would have expected to have had a kettle and tea and coffee and of course you have to pay additional for that....

Wonderful location just steps from the old gate to the city! Breakfast was delicious and there was a nice playground next to the hotel.

Good place to stay for Murten/Morat
A little walk from the train station as it is on the far side of the old town. But other than that, little to complain of. Hotel was nice, room laid out well--liked the additional dining area that was separate from the bed/sleeping area. Staff very nice, and breakfast is good. Once situated, it was convenient to walk just a couple of blocks to enter the old town. Walking the ramparts was great, sunset was great, playing chess in the park was great. Good time in Murten/Morat all around.

OK Hotel in Murten
Hotel is clean and quiet. Pillows are of low quality and there is no air conditioning. Depending upon the room location, you could be located near an air handling unit that runs all night long. Not the greatest hotel for those seeking a good night's rest.

I had to take a cold shower in the morning. No explanation why. Breakfast is just average, with primary focus on bread, bread and other shapes of bread. Good restaurant for evening meals. There is no air conditioning at this property (nor at Murtenhof & Krone Hotel in the same town) Overall: Poor price to value ratio.

The young lady on the reception desk was absolutely amazing! Always smiling and super friendly! Helpful! Graciously took the initiative with all of our requests! This hotel is very lucky to have somebody like her as an employee in reception.

Property is dated. Reception on arrival was slow,- made us wait while she talked to a friend, clearly not a business call. Room was comfortable. Dinner was good, breakfast was unacceptable - limited options, no hot breakfast

Finding the hotel from the train station was very simple. The location was good, the rooms were comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful, the breakfast plentiful and filling.

Marvelous Murten
If you want close to the quaint, charming town of Murten this is the place. The hotel is fairly well appointed and a big plus is the built in, very stylish restaurant and cocktail lounge. Outside dining a couple hundred meters from the “City Gates” makes a short walk to a dozen other restaurants and shops easy. My first night was in a small single overlooking the Main Street and as it was Friday night, made for a difficult sleeping environment. The desk folks couldn’t have been more caring and were nice enough to move me to a much larger double bed arrangement away from the street. It was perfect. The price point is good and if you can score a quiet room in the back you’ve got the best of all worlds.

Great hotel and amazing village.
Check in was fast and friendly , room large clean and comfortable. Great atmosphere in the bar and restaurant with excellent service. The medievel village is a few minutes walk , the wall and turrets surrounding it are amazing and once inside you can stroll around the cobbled lanes and decorated arcades.

Small but clean room with desk space and good lighting. The shower was quite poor with low pressure and water temp changed all the time, There is an attached restaurant with bar, the breakfast was excellent. Car parking is limited and can be a problem if full.

Nice and convenient located hotel
The receptionist is friendly and speaks English very well, which eliminates the language barrier. The room is very spacious and clean. It look like a small apartment than a hotel. There is a very nice lake near by. It is about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The train station is about 10-15 minutes walk.

Avoid this hotel
This is an old building with very poor upkeep. The hotel is located very near the old city and has its own free parking (if you can find a spot). Stephanie at the desk was very helpful with the room and with touring advice.. She gave us a complimentary upgrade to a triple in order to enjoy larger windows. There is no AC at this hotel and we arrived on a hot day. The problem with more fresh air is more mosquitos. The fan she supplied was a small help. There is no safe in the room and no kettle. The breakfast was merely ok. Avoid the restaurant if you only speak English. They do not.

Good hotel in a handsome town
Lovely, spacious, comfortable room in what was a very handsome town. Murten town centre and the lake were an easy 2 - 3 minute walk away. Breakfast was maybe a bit disappointing. There is not a huge choice of food available. But, I would certainly stay here again.

A beuatiful Swiss town with character.
We received a wonderful welcome by the receptionist at this hotel, even an apology for the pouring rain. The town is very picturesque and has retained some of its medieval heritage. The food in the hotel was delightful and the atmosphere was one of comfort and enjoyment. Everyone seemed happy.

Clean decent hotel, good location
Had a short overnight stay there - the hotel was nice and clean, nothing special but a good deal for the price paid in the area. Very close to downtown and dining options. Included breakfast was very nice with fresh bread, juices and variety of cheeses.

Quiet, historic town next to lake with great food.
Short business trip in nearby city, found this small Hotel on Expedia and booked based on favourable comments. The town is close to a lake, many character buildings plus lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance, but the Hotel has a really good restaurant that is highly recommended. Accommodation is fairly basic but certainly adequate for a short business trip and my room was large.

For a 3 star Swiss hotel, does what is says on the tin, staff are friendly and helpful. Beds are Swiss twins and are expected comfort (do not expect Marriot Queen Size with Egyptian cotton. Room is spacious and bathroom is compact with shower but functional for business trip. Breakfast is continental and bread is fresh. Added bonus is the wine bar with great wines and the steak is good. Overall stay here when in Murten as best value for money and easy to park.

Steps From Murten Old Town
Staff friendly. Great breakfast included. Price seemed a bit expensive but really ok for Switzerland. 1 minute walk from walled city of Murten, but outside the wall with free car parking which is very nice to not worry about the car. Rooms clean but a bit small. Would stay again.

Murten, a small gem
This was a lovely little hotel. The room we had was small, but very comfortable. Breakfast was the standard European breakfast served by very friendly staff. The reception staff was very friendly also.. The old town was a block away and compact with a fantastic view of the countryside from the walls. The location was also not too far from the train station, and several blocks down to Lake Murten. The park along the lake made for a pleasant walk. Cannot find fault with anything about this hotel.

100m from the old town
This was my second stay here in 2011 - the buffet breakfast is good (lovely fresh bread) and the rooms are clean and tidy. Breakfast seems to be included in the room rate but it does not show anywhere. Also you have to pay visitors tax when you check out but this is standard for many parts of Switzerland. The bathrooms seem to vary quite a lot in size but are clean with nice towels and soap/gel dispensers. There is free parking right outside and you are only 100m from the entrance to the old 14th century town which is stunning to walk around with loads of places to eat. You can then walk off your meal with a walk by the lake. Good selection of drinks at the bar in the hotel. I haven't eaten here in the evening. The prices look somewhat steep ! No tea tray or minibar in the rooms but this is common in Switzerland. There were a couple of bottles of complimentary water and glasses in the room as well as an LCD tv. Hotel has wifi and you can buy internet access at reception. It's part of a national hotspot system and the credit is time based and can be used over a number of days. Previously I bought some credit and used it elsewhere in Switzerland at another hotel later in our stay. The downside of this hotel is the lack of air conditioning or fans in the rooms - so be wary if it is very hot. If you leave the windows open you will hear the clock chimes ringing all night (every quarter hour). The hotel is right next to the road but there is only local traffic which dies down very quickly after around 10pm Staff seem to be fluent in German, French and English and were very courteous and helpful. There are lifts but they are rather small so I would imagine that anyone in a wheelchair may struggle somewhat. I would stay here again but not if it was expected to be very hot !

Angenehmes Hotel in Stadtnähe, gut zu erreichen. Das Zimmer war sauber, grösser als erwartet. Ich würde sagen, typischer 3-Sterne-STandard der Schweiz. Nicht vorhanden war Wasserkocher im Zimmer oder Kühlschrank. Dafür hatte es eine Kaffeemaschine im Frühstücksraum, wo man sich auch ausserhalb der Oeffnungszeiten einen Tee zubereiten konnte. Der Preis war gemäss meiner Einschätzung eher an der oberen Grenze; die Freundlichkeit an der Reception eher an der unteren Grenze.... Aber alles in Allem gebe ich dem Hotel gerne ein "ok" resp. 3 von 5 Sternen.

Wie Sie schon richtig bemerkt haben, sind wir ein Hotel mit 3 Sternen und somit gehört ein Wasserkocher und ein Kühlschrank nicht in die Grundausstattung. Schade haben Sie Ihre Wünsche nicht während Ihres Aufenthaltes mitgeteilt. So hätten wir darauf reagieren können und Ihnen die gewünschten Artikel ins Zimmer stellen können ( da diese bei uns vorhanden, aber nicht in die Zimmer verteilt sind).Es erstaunt mich auch sehr, dass Sie die Freundlichkeit unserer Dame(n) an der Rezeption beanstanden, da diese von unseren Gästen immer hervorgehoben und geschätzt wird. Da wir leider Ihren Namen und Ihr Aufenthaltsdatum nicht erurien können, fällt es uns schwer dieses mit den richtigen Mitarbeiterinnen zu besprechen.
