Just outside the door you can take a train anywhere or even better, you can see the delightful East Side Gallery on the Berlin Wall. I'm almost reluctant to divulge this best kept secret in Berlin. Would highly recommend.

"Boutique hotel, with a feel of being family owned"
I stayed for 5 nights at the New Berlin Hotel. After a small issue with one of my rooms in the older block, I was very kindly transferrred to a room in the modern building. This room was fantastic. Great facilities, modern appointments. The staff were consistently helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I feel the staff really contributed to the overall positive experience I had. The breakfast buffet was fantastic, great choices, helpful staff, a real treat.

I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel. It was a shot in the dark for me and ended up being perfect. On the water, between Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain (two hot areas) I have no complaints about anything. Everyone was friendly, check in/out was smooth and the room was perfect.

Great vegan and vegetarian buffet, amazing rooftop sauna, quiet, clean, organic mini bar, great location near cool shops, bars and Veganz vegan grocery. One of staff lent my friend his personal bike when none were available from hotel. Wish there was one in every city!

The hotel was ideally located being around a 200-300m walk to the U Bahn, Ringbahn and 7 stops from Alexander Platz in the East city centre. There was also a shopping arcade located around 200m containing clothes shops, a supermarket, pharamacy, cafe and a number of fast food restaurants. The hotel exterior is quite dated however the room was clean, spacious and cosy. The bins and towels were changed every day. There is a busy street to the front of the hotel which did become noisy during rush hour however this was not a problem with the window closed.

Formerly in East Berlin, the arrival of MTV Europe and other media companies has enhanced Friedrichshain’s reputation as one of the liveliest, most fashionable areas in Berlin. Its pubs, clubs and cafés centre round Boxhagener Platz and Simon-Dach-Strasse, and a long section of the Berlin Wall remains on Mühlen Strasse. Karl-Marx-Allee is a testament to Stalinist architecture; the Volkspark Friedrichshain houses the Brothers Grimm Fountain.
