“Guntersville Super 8”

It's a Super 8. Keep that in mind and you will be fine. One thing that bothered me was that the Expedia rate I *paid* was higher than the rate I could have gotten if I had walked in with my state gov't ID and asked for the room. That bothered me. Alot. That mark is on Expedia, not the hotel. The hotel is near the water, easy to find. cheap and reasonably clean.

“Adequate for the price”

For the price the motel was adequate. The shower was hard to work, but everything else was satisfactory. My wife and I found the beds comfortable and we got a good night's sleep. That's more than some more costly hotels can promise.

“Acceptable for the price”

On walking up to the lobby I had real doubts about this motel - old rusting soda machine, used and weathered 2x4s against the wall and a big smear of something (food of some type) on the door glass, plus a rough looking enclosure for late night registration. Not a good first impression. Inside the lobby was better. It was small and a little spartan but clean. Check in was easy and quick. I was prepared for the worse when I opened the door on the 2nd floor room but was relieved to find it acceptable. It was reasonably clean, carpet was nice. The TV, microwave and small refrigerator were dated but all worked and were also clean. Sink area was very nice and bath area was also acceptable. Beds were typical - hard. Sheets were passable but pillow cases could have been replaced. Motel was right on the highway so there was some noise but nothing unusual. Parking is tight. On the weekends it appears it is popular with local fisherman boating on Lake Guntersville. All things considered for the amount I paid it was acceptable - this is a low cost motel. I might stay there again but if my wife was along we would probably look else where. Also, if you like fishing or boating this area is absolutely beautiful.

“Could've had better service”

We stayed there for 2 nights. Nobody ever came to clean the rooms, make the bed or bring new towels. They charge like $10 extra per night just to bring a folding bed in for a 3rd person. They barely spoke English too. However, the location is really good and if you have a boat, you can easily recharge your batteries with their electrical hookups outside.

“Review”

In room coffee pot did not work and was full of mold. In room hair dryer did not work.

“Won't go back”

Won't go back. tried to force me to take handicapped room even though hotel was empty. Bathroom was dirty, room was ugly. I almost left but was too tired.

“Do yourself a favor and read this before you stay”

I booked this due to last minute planning. Understand I am usually not the type to complain as long as I have a clean place to lay my head and sleep. The hotel itself is simply run down and in need of a facelift. The room had a ceiling fan which did not work, the refrigerator would not cool and I did not even bother to check the microwave as it appeared to be at least 25 years old. The Air conditioner did work and very well I might add which was a plus because it is starting to get hot here this time of year. The staff seem like they feel it is a chore to wait on you when you check in or out and I was not impressed at all. I do not expect butt kissing but a courteous hello would have been nice. If I had to make this stay again, I'd rather drive the two hours each way and be dead tired at the end of the trip and know I did not waste money on the dive of a hotel.
