This B&B is difficult to reach on its promontory above the ancient city but the journey is worth it. The views are spectacular and the host a true delight. We changed our plans so that we could return there at the end of our vacation. We only had two nights but will go back for a week next time we visit Italy. The ancient port is a place for a quiet morning stroll or a lively Saturday night. The beaches are clean and the water crystal clear. The locals see fewer tourists than many places in Italy and we heard less English but they were without exception friendly and welcoming. The place was a wonderful surprise and we are tempted no to tell too many people about it, but now I am telling the world.

Hotel Gajeta is conveniently placed between the old and new sides of Gajeta, in easy walking distance to both the harbour and the church that dominates the old town. We had a couple of different rooms to choose from and chose the larger one without a balcony. If you can, try and get a balcony as the view is nice and it's interesting to watch the activities on the naval base across the street. The room we had on the second floor was quite spacious. The hotel itself is very unique, as each floor seems to have multiple sets of stairs and levels. The hotel faces the harbour and it's fun to watch the fishing boats come in with their catch at the end of the day. There is a patio on the top floor that very few people use, so it's a great place to sit and tan. Hotel staff are friendly and eager to answer questions and make recommendations.

Lovely location right at the beach. We didnt use the meal service as there were wonderful restaurants very close in medieval Gaeta and we always prefer to eat elsewhere. The breakfast was better than at most Italian hotels ehere i have stayed so ithat counts. Parking was in a private lot right across the street.
We talked to friends who stayed in similar digs in Sperlonga. during this same week and they paid a lot more for what seems to be a very similar situation.
