Best of bad selection

Pros: The hotel has a large pool and a nice outdoor area for sitting and even grilling.
Cons: The hotel needs to update or upgrade their window AC units.
The Quality Inn in Alachua seemed to be the best of what appeared to be a series of bad options at that exit. We were disappointed in the following. 1. Heavy condensation collects on the windows due to the poor quality AC units. It leaves the room very damp when you run the AC for long. We noticed many other rooms had the same issue. 2. There were several people who seemed to be living in the hotel long term while we were there. These individuals spent the night drinking outside, arguing loudly and creating a general disturbance. During the day they just hung around smoking all day. One man in particular was very creepy, just wandering around smoking in his underwear, wrapped in a blanket while peeking into cars and windows. 3. The hotel ran out of food for breakfast the morning we were there. We ended up going next door to McDonalds. It was less crowded and we could get more than a muffin. The whole experience put together made for a negative stay. We were able to get sleep, and the room seemed to be cleaned well despite the damp, musty feel. One positive was a very large outdoor pool and a courtyard where one could sit and even grill out. Unfortunately, it was too cold for us to swim and the unsavory characters made us feel uncomfortable doing a cookout.

Long distance stop over...

Pros: bed linens, internet and breakfast were all good, but those are standard amenities now
no one was at the desk when I arrived. after driving 10 hrs, had to look up my reservation on my phone and called the hotel number. listened to it ring to no answer, checked the back office to make sure it wasn't a crime scene?? 15 minutes later, the desk clerk appeared with an armful of towels and no apology. the bath mat in my room was neatly folded on the tub, but soaking wet and there was wood rot on the bathroom door. it was too late to complain or move, but will not book a choice hotel again.

Needed a room

One of those nights with no reservation. Very few rooms left in Gainesville. Way over priced. Supply and demand I guess.

Great experience, would try again

First time stay, Nothing but a good experience. I was disappointed with another bargain hotel off of I75 so I tried this one. Friendly staff, clean room, decent breakfast. You really can't find a better rom for $80 out the door IMHO.....

no comfortable lounges to get a drink in the area

Pros: the breakfast was very good and the breakfast room was very comfortable with a cozy atmosphere
Cons: the cleanliness of the room needs to be improved, very dusty!
the tv was awful, a lot of snowy mess, could not watch my favorite channels

Too noisy from highway traffic

Hotel is too close to I-75 AND US 441. Traffic noise all night. All motels in Alachua are too close to these busy highways.
