Great location for shopping

Posted Aug 7, 2014
Pros: complimentary breakfast business center with computer and printer outdoor pool
Cons: Front desk agent was on a lengthy phone call while I waited. I would suggest putting caller on hold to let another agent know to come to the front.
Location: Short drive to Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. Adjacent to freeway onramp. Excellent walking distance to shopping and dining.
First time I stayed here, and found it to be a great location for shopping and dining. So many stores and restaurants (both fast food and sit-down) within walking distance. The free breakfast was ample in pleasant surroundings. Beautiful lobby.

Nice stay-not so nice breakfast

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, comfortable room
Cons: Breakfast
Location: Adequate, close to the university
When I arrived, work was being done on the parking lot and there were no signs directing us where to go. But, when we finally figured it out the staff was gracious and accommodating. The room, although a little dated, was comfortable. Had a good night's sleep. The breakfast, however, was one of the sparsest that we had on our trip. The eggs seemed to be made from powdered eggs, there was no meat (bacon or sausage) and other choices were limited, except for the juices. In spite of this, I was happy with our stay and would return to The Lodge.

Some good, some not-so-good

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Nice lobby and we walked into a complimentary cocktail hour. Checked into room and discovered wi-fi didn't work where we were, so front desk moved us to another room. Wi-fi still didn't work. Some in our traveling party struggled to sleep due to the incredibly loud air conditioning unit. Ran into another family at the elevator who mentioned the same issue. Complimentary breakfast was fine.

Thank you for taking time to complete this review. I do want to apologize for the WIFI issues you and your other guests experienced while here at The Lodge. I will make sure to get that addressed with our IT department to get WIFI up and running. I was unaware it was an issue. I do hope the remainder of the stay was great. I stayed at the lodge while my daughter visited a friend at UF. The bed was very comfortable and overall the room was great. The only compliant I would have would be the noise of the air conditioner. The cocktail hour was good. The breakfast offered was also good. I would stay here again.

Nice common area but no WIFI in your room

Posted Jul 21, 2014
There on a Wednesday. Check in and they say free pizza until 7:30. They ran out of pizza at 6:30 but said no more pizza coming ... Breakfast was not available in the appropriate quantity. The whole hotel packed with swimmers. The other bummer was the wifi didn't work on all hotel rooms. When you called the front office they kept giving you all kinds of answers. None produced wifi.

Thank you P for staying with us. We did have a lot of swimmer that came with their appetite during the social and breakfast. I do apologize that the Food and Beverage department should have been a little more prepared for everyone. I also apologize about the WIFI, we just had our I.T contact come out to check on that. Sorry for any inconvenience during your stay with us.I do hope you will come and stay with us again soon so we can show you what a valued stay at The Lodge should be on your travels to the Gainesville area. Room was clean and looked to be kept well. Bathroom was showing some wear. On the small side. Bathroom was entirely too small.

The cold water in the shower did not work. The window had degraded to the point that you could not see out of it. The lobby is very nice, evening beverages is a plus, close to everything. Will stay there again.

Convenient location

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Cannot say enough about the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Also the evening happy hour is a nice touch.
Cons: Less reliance on 'everything disposable' for the breakfast buffet - I really hate styrofoam plates and plastic cutlery.
Location: Very conveniently located just off 75, lots of restaurants and shopping around, very near many lovely state parks & nature preserves, close to U of F
Picked this place by chance, via one of those Expedia "mystery deals" and it worked out very well. We wanted a decent place that would be good for a family at a reasonable price between Orlando and Jacksonville that was near some nice state parks (like Ichetucknee), and that is exactly what we got. The decor is a little outdated, but it's all very well maintained and very clean.

Adorable hotel with a mountain lodge feel.

Posted Jul 6, 2014
Pros: The warm, homey feel.
Cons: The pillows were very uncomfortable.
Location: We only stayed one night to get sleep and get back on the road. We were traveling on vacation.
We were only there overnight but it was a pleasant stay. Breakfast was tasty with several items to choose from. Definitely will stay again.
