Lovely location for us fishing on the Tweed. Great staff, comfortable rooms and the food & beer were good. Would definitely stay again.

Fabous stay
Wonferful hotel full of character. Large room with a fabulous bed. Probably the most comfy bed i ever slept in! Staff welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Restaurant food was fantastic.

Bedding nice and clean, everything else was in poor or unclean condition. Room was stifling hot with widow only opening 6-7 cm. Whole place needs a refurb!

Refurbished coach inn, with 8 rooms, bar & restaurant. Situated in a quiet village on a roundabout, but saw and heard very little traffic, great to use as a base. Roy and his family and staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Food was excellent and a great choice too at reasonable prices. Had Sunday roast and weekly specials where I had the best steak cooked for me in ages. It was clean, had a comfy bed, with good size rooms and priced well too. I will be going back and I would recommend this inn to anyone to stay there and explore the Borders.

Large room with adequate facilities. Overlooked the road but was very quiet. Bar was quite welcoming and had a snack and drink. Very inexpensive - good value.

Good value accommodation.
Nice size room and good size en suite. The hotel is very old and the layout reflects this. The staff were all very friendly, we ate our evening meal in the bar and the food was excellent and plentiful. (went to bed with a happy full belly) A pleasant stay and good value for money. The bed was super comfy.

The bar has a lot of character and the food, choice wise, is limited but very good. You must try the raspberry cheesecake. Delicious!! The hallway and room need redecorated and in places looks a bit tatty. However, overall £50 is an absolute bargain to stay in such an historical building in such a beautiful part of the Borders. Owner and staff are extremely friendly and I feel guilty critising The Clovenford in any way. However I always try to be honest in every review good or bad. All I can say is that both my wife and I will be more than happy to return in the future.

This country Inn is situated in a quiet yet convenient location. We had a ground floor twin room which was spacious and tidy and perfect for our requirements (travelling with a friend). Staff and owners very friendly.

Very pleasant stay would go back again....my furry baby made welcome. Some of the decor was a bit tired, cobweb hanging in the stairwell, towel rail broken, blind only no curtain so up early as it got too light. But it is a good location for touring the area.

Although the staff and food were exceptional The room was dirty, in desperate need of a refresh as very dated And the fact I was told on line there was only one room left!. Which I paid £95.00 for Turns out there was loads of empty rooms And I personally wouldn’t have paid more than £40 a night , at a push I feel I was “ done over” If it wasn’t for the exceptional efforts of the staff I probably wouldn’t stay there again Only if the rooms are worth £95 anight

The staff were very friendly and very helpful. When I went into my room I discovered the floor was soaking wet due to the sink leaking I went downstairs spoke to a member of staff and she said we been looking for that water leak. They put me in a other room but I had to be out my room by Sunday due to other people turning up which wasn’t a real problem but I did want to stay Sunday night really they did say I could go back to the other room if it was finished. Also I got a phone call from my bank on the Friday my personal details have been cloned had to go down to bank and that’s when we discovered the IP address they found was from the hotel. The investigation is still ongoing from the bank and the fraud team I did go back and tell the manager he wasn’t really bothered what happened. When I left Sunday morning I saw the manager gave him the keys well he really couldn’t say thank you or anything he was quite rude and took the keys off me. I would like to take this further And try and get some compensation out of this lot because it did ruin my time there where I couldn’t really do what I wanted to do due to the bank cancelling my cards. Few issues but great staff.
The toilet pumps were horrendous anytime somebody used this including other rooms you can hear it throughout the night. The toilet door didn't even lock, the locking mechanism didn't even lineup. On the upside the staff were really friendly and helpful and the pub had a great environment

Absolutely fantastic

Never again will we stay at this "hotel"
Our stay was for 2 days - it was the most awful hotel we have ever stayed in. We asked on the booking for additional pillows - this was ignored and they were not provided. Room 7 was grim and less than clean , It was so noisy with the faulty plumbing keeping my husband awake all night. We asked the next morning to be moved and was assured by the owner that this would be done. When we arrived back at the Hotel, the owner had "forgot" and was not on-site anymore. The bar staff (who were the only brilliant part and we would thank them very much for their efforts) had to find another room for us which was acceptable and did not suffer from any plumbing noises. On the next morning (check out day) we saw the owner who offered no apology or even recognition of his error - he simply wanted to know if we would pay him even more to have his breakfast. This was declined. You have been warned - if you stay at this hotel, then you will no doubt have similar problems.
