Landmark Hotel.

Posted Dec 3, 2014
Pros: Location, History, a wonderful place to stay while visiting the city of Dubuque.
Cons: Would be nice if the lounge and restaurant were open more hours. Realize this might not be possible but would be nice to have more access to both.
Location: the River museum/aquarium, casinos, walking tour of downtown dubuque.
Great location, within walking distance to many attractions. It is a grand old Hotel.

We'll be back!

We wanted to stay in Dubuque to take in the River Museum, Cable ride and Eagle Point Park. Loved the Julien but were a bit disappointed with the restaurant Caroline. The food was good, but service was very slow. Next time we will check out restaurants nearby.

Cute room with a nice view of the river.

Pros: Very nicely remodeled but kept the quaintness.
Cons: N/A
Location: Right downtown Dubuque - so, close to restaurants, shops and sightseeing.
Enjoyed our stay! Hotel staff could be a little more helpful but overall we enjoyed our stay. Restaurant does need some better service. Although, the person at the bar was very nice when we stopped for a late evening snack. Loved the room and the view!

Very nice experience. Convenient to downtown tourist attractions, businesses and eateries. Catherine's was a very nice restaurant in the hotel.

Historic hotel near plenty of Dubuque activities

Posted Aug 27, 2014
Pros: The best part of Caroline's Restaurant is they deliver right to your room for a very small fee. Breakfast in bed cheaper than the local cafe. ; )
Cons: One thing I found off-putting was the general cleanliness of the room. There was a thick layer of dust everywhere and the marble tabletops were dirty.
Location: Within walking distance of the casino and aquarium. A very short drive to many attractions, the hotel includes an excellent travel brochure in room.
We loved the historic feel of the hotel (and restaurant), which encapsulates Dubuque's past while keeping the hotel itself modern and classy. Arriving on a Sunday afternoon the city seemed almost like a ghost town. The next day there was a clear hustle bustle of a rejuvenating city. Being Sunday, we didn't have many dinner options, but Caroline's the hotel restaurant proved to be a elegant and reasonably priced dinner. Caroline's has an excellent food menu with a range of food choices found up and down the Mississippi. The pool was spacious enough for adults and kids to have some fun. The hot-tub was closed which was disappointing to many, but I don't blame them for closing it for cleaning after a weekend which the hotel hosted two large weddings and their guests. Adjacent to the pool was a large exercise area with plenty of equipment and two HD-tvs.

On Sunday morning we requested a ride to the airport from the hotel shuttle. The person at the front desk informed me that the driver had called in sick. He called a taxi for us and said that they would cover the cost. I thought this was great customer service!
