Beachcomber Inn, Galveston stay

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: Close access to beaches, restaurants and shopping.
Cons: change out the carpets. Provide discounts to military/veterans.
Location: Walking distance to beach access, shopping, grocery, and restaurants.
Checkin was ok. Front desk staff were courteous and helpful. Originally reserved a king bed but when I arrived they only had two full beds. Parking area was dark not a good secure feeling. Walking into the room immediately had overwhelming musty odor. continental breakfast was nothing to brag about: basic pastry, juices. Not what I expected for the price paid.

Cons: no tv remote one light was burned out
Location: walking distance to the beach
This inn is within walking distance of the beach and is clean and comfortable. No remote for the TV, but I was only there to sleep anyway. Close enough to everything without being expensive.

Practical Stay

Posted Feb 1, 2015
Pros: Cleanliness, good bed, good air conditioner, good value.
Cons: More variety at breakfast
Location: Central location. Everything close (Galveston is a small place).
Clean, inexpensive, convenient. Good bed, friendly staff. First motel I've stayed in for a long time where the air conditioner filters were perfectly clean. Good Amana unit with the option of leaving the fan on 'constant' to cover traffic noise.

Pros: Convenient to cruise dock.
Cons: Repairs done should be set to high standards.
Location: Location was OK. Close to Port of Galveston and other points of interest.
This hotel could do with some updating. Standards of cleanliness are a little wanting. Upon arrival, the television did not work. Front desk was contacted, and the desk clerk suggested that we unplug and then replying in the tv. The clerk said that she would send someone to look at it, but to try the unplug/replying in the meantime. This did not work and we contacted the front desk once again as no one came by to check out the problem. The clerk became rather annoyed for the call and said she would handle someone look at it. We waited for approximately one hour with no one coming to fix the problem. I then went to the main desk where I was ignored by the check in clerk. There was another clerk which I approached to once again point out the tv problem, while at the same time my companion contacted the front desk to say that he had looked at the tv once again and found that the cord attached to the tv was not connected properly. We are not the maintenance staff and should not have had to try and fix our tv. This could have been resolved by having someone take a look at it immediately and/or replaced the tv within a reasonable time (15-20 min.) Not impressed with the front desk clerk (Monica?)

Cheap hotel

Receptionist had trouble finding my reservation, talked to me like I was stupid. Then had a restless night in the most uncomfortable bed we've ever slept in.
