Value for money.Posted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: Easy to find and central to all we wanted to do.
Cons: For us the icing on the cake is a waffle maker at breakfast.
Location: Moody gardens, Lone star flight museum are very close by as is the local cinema. The ferry trip to Bolivar.
If you are expecting the Ritz you'll be disappointed. If you want value for you pennies then the Beachcomber is as good as any and much better than some. Staff were personable and helpful, the site and buildings were neat and tidy, everything seemed to work OK. It's fairly centrally located and convenient to get on and off the island. 100yards from the beech if that is where you want to go and plenty of eating establishments within a few steps (literally). Overall it was pretty quiet considering it was on the main road but that may have been due to the season, but we were there over thanksgiving, may be different in mid summer.

OK for a budget hotel.Posted Nov 19, 2014
Pros: Comfortable bed.
Cons: Bedside tables were so old the finish was sticky! Need more hangers, a bath mat, and more availwble plugs for electronics.
Location: Barely 2 blocks from a fishing jetty, close to Galveston Convention Center, lots of seafood restaurants nearby, next door to a Waffle House.
Got a special rate through Expedia for after 2pm reservation. Typical small budget room: small table, 2 chairs, comfortable bed (although bedspread had holes in it which looked like cigarette burns, in a nonsmoking room! I did report it.) Small hair dryer and no bath mat. About 2 feet between bed and chest with TV. Bring your own hangers, only 4 included. Only 1 plug for phones, so you will need an adapter if you have 2 phones. Next door to a Waffle House, with an opening in the fence between the motel and the Waffle House. Very close to a Randall's and a Kroger. 2 blocks from a fishing jetty, 1 block from Galveston Convention Center. We had an accident that needed bandages, and the front desk clerks provided everything we needed.

Clean and comfy and near the beachPosted Nov 17, 2014
Pros: It's quiet, clean and comfortable.
Location: It's a block off the Seawall, so it's near everything. For anytime dining, there's a Wafflehouse right next door.
It's not fancy, but it was spotless and very comfortable. Although the area is pretty crowded and the place was full, it was very quiet. I couldn't hear outside noises or noises from other rooms. It's two-story, and if anyone has any mobility issues (I have a bad knee), they should request a first floor room. The stairs have a fairly steep pitch.

OK hotel close to the beachPosted Nov 17, 2014
Pros: It's proximity to the beach and fishing pier.
Location: Location was great. Near Pleasure Pier, fishing, bars, food
TV didn't work unless it was unplugged and then plugged back in every time you shut it off. Phone did not work. Clock radio was blinking and could not figure out how to change the time, so we just unplugged it. In the other room we booked, the wall lamp was smashed.

Hotel walking distance to beach and restaurantsPosted Oct 27, 2014
Pros: We were able to leave our vehicle at hotel during the week, while we were on cruise
Cons: See what can be done about the vehicles driving behind buildings where metal drain is.
Location: Several restaurants, stores and beach in walking distance
There was some kind of metal drain in the parking lot next to hotel and vehicles along with big trucks would drive over it and it was very loud and hard to sleep.
