Great remodelled rooms!Posted Dec 9, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel is under construction, but only the public areas are affected. It was actually fun to walk down a destroyed hallway (really bad), and enter a beautifully designed, brand new room facing the ocean. If the room is any indication of what the public areas will be like when completed, I expect this will be a quite popular hotel. The reason we went to Galveston was to attend "Dickens on the Strand". We were pleasantly surprised when the hotel shuttle driver took us right to the ticketing area so we wouldn't have to drive. Great service!

Under construction, don't waste your time or moneyPosted Dec 3, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel was under construction and inconvenient to say the lease. The first room given could not be unlocked so they moved us to another that was definitely a smoking room. Smelled bad and musty. Computer was down so they had to write my credit card information down so hopefully my account won't get hacked. Not a good experience at all.

Wonderful stay and excellent staff.Posted Dec 2, 2014
Stayed one night to get on a cruise ship and staff and driver who brought us to the cruise ship terminal were excellent. Friendly, helpful and just can't say enough good things about them.

Thanksgiving Playcation!Posted Nov 30, 2014
Pros: I chose it because only a few hotels in Galvestion have balconies that directly face and so close to Seawall Blvd. and the ocean.
Cons: Would love to visit again once the remodeling is complete. Will the prices skyrocket?
Location: Great location - just a few blocks down from the Pleasure Pier. It was great to walk out to your won private balcony facing the Seawall and the ocean!
I wish Expedia or the hotel had said the hotel was remodeling to become a Doubletree Hotel, April, 2015. I had paid extra to be on the top floor and the room was new, colorful and WELL appointed, BUT you had to walk through a construction zone to get there. No carpet in the hallways. Construction noise woke me up before 8:00 each of my 5 mornings - even Thanksgiving. The desk staff was most welcoming. They got me ice - retrieved from the kitchen and appoligized about the noise and mess. Breakfast was pricy but delicious in the cafe. My room wasn't cleaned until late afternoon - about the time I was ready to come back and relax.

Will be nice after remodelPosted Nov 25, 2014 on Hotels.com
Would have rated the hotel higher but there was a lot of construction going on. We did not get the room on the top floor we paid extra for because it did not have any hot water so we were moved down to the second floor with no notice.

Renovierung im GangePosted Oct 30, 2014 on Hotels.com
