“Short Weekday Visit”

This hotel was great for a short trip. It was quiet, clean, updated, comfy and I had an ocean view. It was lacking a/ a mini-fridge and b/ food allergy friendly menu. If I would have had a/ I could have dealt with b/

“One of the better "cheap" hotels in Galveston”

This is the second time we've stayed at this hotel. We used to live in Galveston, so we know the area and hotels well. This hotel is nice and so are the staff. The bartender is fantastic! They have been more than nice to us each time, and the rooms are very clean. The only thing missing is a mini-fridge. Other than that, it's great! We love all the pics of Galveston in the hotel especially the black and white pics.

Area recommendations
You can never go wrong with the West end, but some of the hotels on that end are older. We prefer Jamaica Beach area, but no hotels out there.
Dining
The best places are the local places: DiBella's on 31st (I think) for Italian Sonny's Place on 19th street for hamburgers and American favorites Yamato's on 61st for Japanese Original Mexican Cafe on 14th street for good Mexican food Miller's or Fisherman's Wharf for reasonable seafood (there are other's that are good too)

“Cute and Comfy”

The hotel was great for an impromptu, last minute getaway. SUPER conveniently located! Gift shop and The "Duck Tour" people meet right across the street, Fish Tales Restaurant was a 5min. walk down the street as were plenty of other shops, bike rentals, restaurants, etc. The island is small, but easy to navigate from the Seawall Blvd. Service was great as we were put into an adjoining room. We requested a change in room. The attendant processed the change on my way down to the front desk and had everything ready to go before I got there! Loved that the whole place is SMOKE FREE!! While the hotel staff is young and a little distracted, they are helpful and nice. Loved that they kept the room really clean. The pool and pool area is small, but clean and gets shade. Not a lot of great latenight TV to watch (limited cable channels, no option to watch feature films). But overall, a comfortable place to stay for an off-season get away.

Area recommendations
I would definitely make this area the place to stay as it is right across from the open ocean to the East. It's location is next to the ferry (for a quick free ride, roundtrip/dolphin sitings), all main roads are easily accessible here and conveniently located to a tourists needs (pharmacy less than a mile away, shops, restaurants, etc).
When to go
Really easy to navigate and take your time to explore the island during the off-season and not heavy travel time. However, due to the off-season, a lot of places/attractions close between 5-6pm, 10pm for some restaurants, so plan your days and excursions for earlier in the day.
Getting around
If you traveled by car, traffic isn't bad at all, getting around is pretty easy. Even if you take a wrong turn, it's easily fixed on this small island. Renting a bike is great if you're just planning on touring the immediate area (ask for a map!)
Nightlife
During the off-season, only a few pubs and bars are open in the immediate area. A bit of rough (borderline rude) crowds, so would definitely look into going further into downtown or driving back up to Houston!

“Do you like sleeping on clouds? I found out I did here!”

This bed seriously felt like a cloud. I have never fell to sleep so quickly in my life. I stayed here one night for a wedding and it definitely did it's job in that sense. The room was fairly big but I can see where it might be a squeeze if an entire family was sharing the room. The bathrooms look nice but the sink and bathtub both had trouble draining. I could see the ocean from my room also so that was nice :) I would stay here again.

Area recommendations
The area you stay in this city depends on what your interests are. Most people come to Galveston to goto the beach so I would definitely only consider staying in hotels on Seawall.

“A bit noisy but good location.”

The room was advertised as having an ocean view and we were on the ground floor with a view of the parking lot. There was a coffee pot in the room but only one coffee packet and no creamer packet. The room was clean and uncluttered and the lobby and dining area were fresh and bright. The staff was polite. The location, across from the seawall was very good and within walking distance of a good restaurant. The bed was very comfortable. The hallway was a bit noisy with doors slamming and loud talking so there were good things and not so good things. All in all I would probably stay there again.

Area recommendations
The seawall area or close to the harborside restaurants. The beach and the restaurants are the reason people go to Galveston.
Dining
Gaidos restaurant is a must. Sometimes there is an hour wait but it is worth it. The beach in front of the hotel was very clean.
